Hello everyone,

I am asking for your help. My Sebring Cabrio JS 2.0CRD 2010 (VW engine 2.0l TDI 140hp, engine code: BYL ECD) has been experiencing the following problems for some time:

- The engine sometimes experiences significant jolts between 1600 and 2200 RPM, and the strong vibrations in this RPM range are also noticeably felt when the vehicle is stationary.
- The engine occasionally stalls when the clutch is disengaged and then fails to restart, as if it's no longer receiving fuel. If towed, the engine can be restarted in second gear when the clutch is engaged, and it then runs normally at idle.
- The error memory has already been read, and the result is: No errors found!
- Two workshops have not yet been able to find the error.
- The AGR valve was replaced and the throttle body was cleaned as a precaution, but this did not improve the situation.

Unfortunately, I can't determine whether the two errors are related. I need your help.

Thank you in advance for your advice! icon_smile_thumb_up.gif

The error is still present, and Bosch service cannot read live data, so a data logging session was not possible. Are the diagnostic devices offered here suitable for data logging? Which device, in the price range for hobby mechanics, is suitable for my vehicle? It's a Chrysler Sebring Cabrio with a 2.0 CRD engine, engine code BYL, which is the same as the VW 2.0 16V PD (BKD). Please help me, I'm stuck. Perhaps someone in the Bodensee region can offer a data logging service?
Thank you.

Hello,

"Good question. If the engine control unit (ECU) is "non-VAG" regarding diagnostics, then things look bad..."

Best regards, Rainer.

I was almost certain of that; the Chrysler "lock" seems to be very effective. Another question: If one Power Distribution (PD) module is replaced with a refurbished one, do the parameters of the new module need to be transferred to the engine control unit (ECU), or not? Does anyone here know the answer?

Hi,

As I said, I don't know if Chrysler changed the diagnostic parameters in the engine control unit. The best thing to do is to try accessing control unit address 1 (engine) using VCDS to see if you can retrieve any information.

When installing or replacing PD elements, no adjustments need to be made in the engine control unit; however, the PD elements must be properly adjusted mechanically.
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you, Rainer, for your quick and helpful response. Unfortunately, I don't have VCDS, and I think it would be wrong to buy it without being sure that it will work.
