Hi.
Does anyone know why the cover on the left side, around the fog light, is completely open on the Passat 3C?
On the right side, there's an "opening" or "handle" because that part needs to be removed when the vehicle is towed.
But there's nothing interesting to the left... It only lets in unnecessary water and dirt.

Could it be that the 105 or 140 hp TDI engine has the intercooler located on the front, left side?
If so, they probably didn't create their own covers specifically for the 170 hp TDI engine with FLLK.
Sure, Maxx.

Okay, so the 140 model also has an FLLK.
And if I'm interpreting the BM's photos correctly, the one on the left also only has a handle, just like the one on the right.
So, the 1.9-liter engine cannot have an SLLK.

No, they all have the fully integrated module with the cooling package in the front end...
I would have said it's probably related to the horn, but in a Golf IV, the grille on the driver's side (behind which the horn and temperature sensor are located) is the one being referred to. Sensor) closed...
The higher purpose of this is still questionable, as you rightly pointed out. The BMW is too tight, and the space "down below" is also quite cramped. Brake cooling is also not an option, as it's not available on both sides. Do you have any air ducts leading to the transmission? Do you have a heater? "On the Golf IV, it might be installed there, which is perhaps why it's closed off."

The brake cooling system is located at the bottom, and the underbody rises again towards the wheels.
I don't have a standing heater or anything like that. Behind the bars is yawning emptiness... and dirt that can get in, but not out .

I checked the documentation to see if there is a "closed" grid available for the left side as well.
Unfortunately, only the open version is available.
Sure, Maxx.

Just checked it live, the BM (okay, he didn't have any Nebler ) is completely intact except for the incision.

Matthias, where can I find some information about BM?
If the BM has something that I like, I'll build myself a BM-BMR.

Perhaps he is SUPPOSED to be collecting dirt there in order to reduce particulate matter pollution.

Okay.
Here's the analysis.
The left grille is probably open because of the gearbox. Behind it, you'll first hear the loud horn... and then you'll see the transmission at the very back - otherwise, there's nothing of interest there, and that's all there is to it.
Here's the Bravo photo story about it:

Hi Martin, I think it's great how you take care of your Passat, but don't worry too much about some of the things happening within the VW Group. I'm usually quite particular about my cars, but the way you talk about things shows a lot of thought, which is really impressive.
PLEASE don't take this as a personal attack on you or your dog. Don't worry too much about it, and just let the dog be.

Hi Lars,
Let's look at it this way.
VW makes such great cars that the right-hand side horn breaks after only two uses.
Then I'll have to start thinking about how many more hours of my life I have to spend planning, if the left headlight has to be washed in the pouring rain.
Then, the Passat will be in the workshop for a whole day, and I'll have to walk in the rain.
(aside from the still-unresolved Climatronic rattling issue and the crackling door panels...)
Okay, that's *one* argument... my playful nature and curiosity are further reasons.
I didn't take it as an attack, don't worry.
Greetings.

Hi,
While I don't always behave that way myself, the ideal scenario for a buyer, especially within the warranty period, is to simply add the required fluids and drive the car, without making any other modifications.
If you encounter any problems, you'll have to bite the bullet and explain the situation to your well-meaning but perhaps less tech-savvy friends, and hope that they don't break anything while they're trying to help with the repair.
Only in this way can the VAG (Volkswagen Group) create a feedback loop and conduct a real cost-benefit analysis, which helps them consider whether certain aspects should be changed before delivery or whether the slightly more expensive part might actually be cheaper in the long run.
That's definitely how things work for the Japanese and their customers.
DIY enthusiasts can distort this feedback loop when they fix vulnerabilities themselves. Sure, there are only a few of this species...?!
It's similar with the efforts of individuals to conserve resources, and I consider myself one of those individuals. But, ideally, everyone should behave in this way. Then, problems arising from average behavior become more visible than if some individuals try to counteract trends like energy waste.
Because only if a large number of people implement or are required to implement these measures will they be truly effective.
Nice conversation, right? Just my thoughts...
