Hi.

Am I correct in assuming that the behavior of a 038 906 012 AT can only be changed through a "rebuild"? Is it not yet possible to modify it through flashing with the EDC 15P?

The device is installed in the Leon and is quite temperamental when the outside temperature is around 4 degrees Celsius.
It doesn't glow yet, and the car starts up like an old Lanz tractor.

"It's okay above it - and below it too (because then it will glow)."

The plausibility check of the temperature sensors showed identical values for all three sensors, down to the hundredth of a degree.

Hi Martin,
The 012AT is already flashable via diagnostics.

Best regards,
Rudi

OHOH,

I have some new plans... The Leon always seems to have problems, and it's very important to me that the car runs well.

Hi Martin,

The software indicates a preheating time of approximately 2 seconds when the water temperature is 4°C.

Have you ever tried it using adaptation? Channel 12 should be the preheating time, if I recall correctly?

No wonder the resolution of the diagnostic image is usually 0.9K.
Therefore, you can be reasonably sure that no one deviates from the others by more than 0.9K.

'Oh? And where can one find data sets for that?'
Seat is acting like it doesn't exist.
Or is the statement solely reduced to tuning measures?

The statement initially referred to 'soldering or flashing'.
What kind of data formats would you prefer?
Which Seat model solves the problem?

I've always been curious about which devices are actually 'updated' via a tester.

Hello.
If I understand correctly, this is about two different things.

Rudi is referring to the basic flashing of the MSG (Modular Service Unit) via the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) interface. This is possible with Seat vehicles using the aforementioned MSG and the appropriate tools.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no software update available from Seat.
Seat hasn't made any changes to the software in recent years. At least, that's what most tuners and my local Seat dealer know.

Modifications to the dataset by Martin will likely only be possible through a tuner or through individual initiative using the tools of a tuner.

Best regards, Jochen.

That's exactly the question I'd be interested in: which ones exist, and whether they could potentially be updated.

It's clear that this is about either specific tools or a tuner.
But exactly that kind of information 'from Seat' doesn't exist, which surprises me.
'There must be some kind of information available somewhere; I was just checking to see if I might have missed something, because I haven't seen any updates from Seat. I know that VW has released some updates, but I'm not aware of anything similar from Seat or Skoda.'

I thought I would learn something from this icon_wink.gif.

Hi Ulf,

I tried to increase the initial amount. The new value was accepted, but nothing changed when I started the process.

The problem is that the attempts after a "mare" attempt often go much better, and you don't know if the solution was found or if he just resigned himself to starting icon_wink.gif.

"A higher preheating time would be another alternative, although I thought it wouldn't actually heat up at 4-5 degrees - at least that's what the display seems to indicate. The temperature sensors (GSK) are new and have been re-calibrated."

Thank you.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Addendum:"

The simplest solution is likely to wait 2 seconds after the heating element turns off, but before starting, if the temperature is below approximately 10°C.

The spark plugs continue to receive voltage for a while longer (which can be easily observed using an LED connected to the glow relay output), presumably to give even "slow starters" a chance to start the engine with properly heated spark plugs.

Sure: the glow plug usually activates briefly for a self-check. As long as the preheating time, according to the software, isn't significantly longer, it appears as if it's not glowing at all.

Apart from the interpolation strategy (stepwise?! icon_confused.gif),
Does the Leon start to warm up later than the Polo (Polo at the top, Leon at the bottom)?

Okay.

However, since the Leon doesn't preheat at all below 10°C (my observations of the glow LED indicate a linear interpolation; the post-glow time is certainly linearly interpolated between the reference points), its glow plugs are essentially on up to 9.9°C - and presumably, the "quick-start follow-up time" will also be present, which can be exploited to improve cold starts.
