Hi everyone,

I have a small hole (about the size of a pea) in the sill panel, located under the passenger-side door.
A small amount of rust has formed.

Unfortunately, there is no photo.
I'm interested in knowing what the potential costs are, or what the permissible costs are.

I was at the body shop, and according to the estimate, it should cost 170 euros.

In this case, the sheet metal needs to be replaced over a large area, which involves welding and painting.

That sounds quite fair.

What do you think?

Best, Sascha.

Hi, so, if it's a large-scale project, I don't think it's expensive.

For something the size of a pea, I would cut out a piece roughly 5x5 and weld it in place.
The question would naturally be how long you intend to keep your car, and its overall condition.

...but the price is quite reasonable...

Hi,
He mentioned that the area to be removed would be approximately 20x10 cm, or slightly more.
The overall condition is quite good for a vehicle manufactured in 1998.
No other rust or similar issues.
I'm not planning to sell it anytime soon.

Regards,
Sascha.

Well, so 20 * 10 is good, but the question is what it looks like from the inside, but hey, let them do it icon_smile.gif.

It will ultimately cost 140 euros.
Of course, the sheet metal will be replaced to the extent necessary to ensure a proper fit.

Best regards,

"For decent work, this is acceptable. In the past, it often just applied a thin layer. The narrow space between the old and new materials provided ideal conditions for rust to form. However, cavity protection should also be included, otherwise it's not worth it for long-term use."
