I need to quickly find out where to position the lift arms on a Volkswagen Golf 4. Unfortunately, there's no manual included with the vehicle (as there usually is). I need to do the exhaust work tomorrow.
I noticed a large bulge under the driver's side door, near where the jack is usually placed. It looks like someone has definitely been messing around with that area before. |

Okay, at the designated points on the front and rear sills (near the wheels), where the jack also attaches - read the owner's manual . Gruß, der Teileklaus

Well, if he doesn't have a logbook...
So, I'm going to wash the Golf, and then I'll see some embedded markings in the shape of a triangle on the rocker panel. They specify the height, and then the lifting platform is positioned at that height on the pier. |

It also works at the indicated point; you just need to place the 1-meter long piece of wood ("Dielstück") on the plate, which will distribute the lifting force without pressing down on the sill. Gruß, der Teileklaus

Okay, so it's the standard way on the sill of the car, near the rear wheel arch. On the Seat Ibiza, there's a specifically designed metal attachment point in the back for the lifting platform (not a jack).
Okay, then I'll check the markings. |

Down there, there should be a lot of metal anyway, and it's certainly a given that a car lift or lifting platform should never have plastic panels. |
