Hi.

(1) Is it possible to exploit the "showroom effect"?
It's really funny when you shoot photons at your neighbors at 2:00 AM icon_wink.gif.

(2) What do these modes mean? I have "000" saved as the default setting.
Code:

A077,0,Automatische Fahrlichtschaltung (AFL) Modi
A077,5,Automatische Fahrlichtschaltung (AFL) Modi
A077,6,035 = Stadtlicht / Regenlicht
A077,7,075 = Landstraßenlicht
A077,8,060 = Landstraßenlicht / Regenlicht
A077,9,095 = Autobahnlicht Stufe 1
A077,10,115 = Autobahnlicht Stufe 2
A077,11,125 = Autobahnlicht Stufe Maximum
A077,12,000 = Modi inaktiv

... there was another T.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hi Martin,

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

1)
I haven't tried the "showroom effect" yet, but I assume that the lens rotation will then be less dampened, and the servos will also rotate more frequently / nervously during driving. This probably won't be good for the lifespan icon_wink.gif.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Regarding item 2)"
We seem to be asking pretty much the same questions. Here: http://www.hella.com/hella-de-de/3406.html I found some interesting explanations and pictures the day before yesterday. I don't know if that applies to our 3C, but I strongly suspect that the way it works is similar.

Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:

"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

I turned on the showroom lights last night, and they worked.
Today, after several attempts, I no longer see any effect.
Maybe it turned off automatically again?!

Modes:

The adaptation values are not binary, so can I not combine them?

Here, in a thread, I've described everything that's possible using the Insignia, and that's what I'd like, because the 3C has all the measurements and all the actuators needed for it.
He doesn't do it, though.

So, the question is, what exactly do these modes do, and can they be combined?

It shouldn't require hours of reverse engineering and test drives to figure out.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

The showroom's ignition automatically shuts off after being activated.
It's also cumbersome if you have to grant access and make adjustments for every demonstration.

Is there any context for this? I didn't realize that VW was already capable of doing something like this.

Thank you for the clarification icon_smile.gif.

Audi A4 B7 Cabrio 2.0 TFSI/BWE - sold
Passat Variant Highline 3BG EZ 2/04 2,0 TDI mit DPF 235tkm 2x DPF gespült - RIP dank LKW

Hi Benni,

What do you mean by "context"?
Currently, it is still unclear what the modes exactly mean and what effect the encoding has.

Because the modes are not, like other independent codes, binary numbers that can be simply added together. On the other hand, it's not interesting to only encode a single mode, because my driving situation is constantly changing, and I can't stop at every road sign and re-encode.

I also came across the "showroom effect," but that doesn't make sense either, because it has to be re-coded every time, which takes longer than an actuator diagnosis, which can also rotate the light beams.

All in all, it's very questionable.

Hi Martin,

Context in the sense of "background information".

I'm wondering what a showroom mode is and where these coding options suddenly came from.

It really sounds like you can activate the adaptive headlights. (which, in my opinion, includes all modes - i.e., it's adaptive).

The adjustment values might be intended to ensure that the light modes comply with legal regulations.

Well, maybe I didn't write enough.

According to the .lbl file, the headlight beam control unit (AFS) has three adjustment channels.
- Tourists
- Showroom
- Modes

"Touri" clearly disables the lens tilting function, as the tilting could cause glare for drivers on the left side of the road - which is irrelevant in this case.

icon_arrow.gif Showroom, a nice gimmick, but actually also quite uninteresting.

icon_arrow.gif Modes: My Passat does everything I bought it for: automatic lights on and off, turning lights, cornering lights...

He could actually do more, because for these modes, only the speed and the presence or absence of rain are actually important. This information is already available on the CAN bus.
So, he could potentially widen the beam of light in the city, create a parallel beam on the highway, and slightly elevate it... basically, everything mentioned here.

/viewtopic.php?t=19361&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=insignia

And that's exactly what the modes sound like...

Hi Martin,

Have you discovered anything about that over time?
I now have an Octavia II, which also has this AFS control unit with the same adjustment channels.

Can these AFS modes be activated in some way using this?
The Superb does have them, but it also comes with bi-Xenon headlights.

I suspect, however, that adaptation channel 77, like the showroom effect, is also only intended for demonstration or testing purposes.

Regards,
Malte.
