Hey everyone. I was looking for engine oil for my car yesterday. I have an Audi A6 2.5 TDI, manufactured in 1996 (engine code AAT). I've always used Castrol SLX 0W30 (fully synthetic) before. Yesterday, I saw a fully synthetic oil from Liqui Moly, 0W40, that costs half the price of my Castrol.
Does anyone know this brand and would recommend it? My Audi has 160,000 km on it.

Best regards, Martin.

Hello everyone,

Liqui Moly is not a cheap or unknown brand.

Sure, here's the translation:

'Hello'

Richard.

Hello,

Who is selling you that expensive oil for your engine?
Since the SLX oil is not available for purchase by consumers but only through workshops, I suspect that your workshop may have unnecessarily sold you an oil that is too expensive.
SLX meets the VW standards 503.01 (LongLife 1 for Audi TT, S3 gasoline engines), 502.00, and 505.00 (for turbo diesel engines without common rail injection and without LongLife specification).
For your vehicle's requirements, an oil that meets the 505.00 standard is perfectly sufficient.

Of course, Liqui Moly is cheaper there, probably because it doesn't meet the 503.01 standard, but it does meet the 505.00 standard.

A 5W-40 oil that meets the 505.00 specification is perfectly adequate and slightly cheaper than the 0W-40 LiquiMoly.

'For my part, I always buy 5W-40 synthetic oil in a 5-liter container from the Praktiker hardware store for 9.99 euros. It has specific approvals for VW 502.00, 505.00, BMW LongLife, MB229.1, Porsche, etc.'
And by the way, this oil is bottled at a refinery that supplies some car manufacturers icon_wink.gif.
This oil is also approved for your Audi.

Thanks for the tips... I've decided to go with LM - let's see how it works.
