 Hello
For about two weeks now, the rear windshield wiper on my Passat wagon has only been moving about 10 cm before getting stuck! It won't move forward or backward!
The engine is still working! Has anyone else experienced this problem, and what might be a cost-effective solution?
Sure, here's the translation:
'Thank you.'
Best, Tom.

I had a similar problem with my Golf.
The reason was a few broken or partially broken cables.
These run from the body of the car through a flexible plastic tube into the tailgate. In the Golf, if you're standing in front of the open tailgate, they're on the top right. Simply slide the flexible plastic tube aside a little, and you can see if the cables are still intact.
Best regards, D.

Hello.
Thank you for the tip!
After checking the power supply, I can rule that out as the cause! It seems like the bearing on the windshield wiper arm might be stuck! Now we need to see what else can be done.
I will keep you updated!
Best,
Tom

Hello Goro,
There are some cases where water intrusion can seize the wiper mechanism (see error database). However, so far, I've only seen this issue with the front wipers. Are all the seals in that area in good condition? Otherwise, you'll likely experience these problems again. Tschüss

Hello Michael,
Mal Let's see how long!
Best, Tom.

Hello!
There's still one possible cause for this problem. On the main gear of the wiper motor, there are contact points. The electrical pulse from the wiper lever activates the wiper motor until it rotates and makes contact with this contact point (which provides a constant positive voltage) on the gear. Over time, this contact point can become oxidized or even burn out slightly, so that the limited electrical pulse from the wiper lever (or relay) is no longer sufficient to reach the contact point, and the wiper arm stops where the power cuts off.
Solution: Remove the windshield wiper motor (including the gearbox), clean the contact point and wiper arm, if necessary, clean with a small copper brush, apply contact grease, and it should work again.
Greetings,
Peter.
P.S.: It's likely that spraying this contact point with a creeping or contact lubricant has cleaned it (assumption). VW T5 GP Multivan Startline CAAC 2,0 CRD 103 KW, Audi A2 1,4 16V AUA 2001, Audi A2 1,4 16V AUA 2003;Renault Zoe PHII 135 2020;
