Hi everyone, I bought new summer tires a week ago. They are 205/55R16W, Continental SportContact. As soon as I drove off the lot, I noticed that the tires were exactly three years old.
According to common legal practice, they are still considered brand new, and I had no way to return them.
Therefore, I'm not writing this to praise them, because these officially new tires already heated up to more than body temperature at 50 km/h on a straight road, starting *within* the tread and also in the sidewalls, with the front being warmer than the rear, and the rear being particularly warm on the inside.
Consequently, the rolling resistance, which usually allows me to coast easily, caused me to slow down continuously.
After a week and approximately 350 km/h of driving in both city and highway conditions, the situation has significantly improved. The old tires were probably still cooler, but the issue is no longer noticeable.
I can only warn against using tires like these "new" ones before a long drive on the highway. I probably would have driven to every parking area just to check them manually. Gruß Christian

You shouldn't drive so recklessly with new tires, you hear? Gruß, der Teileklaus

But your AKN is so fast, respect.
Subject: I also find it outrageous that tires that are 3 years old can still be sold as new. A piece of metal might still be the same after 3 years, but certainly not rubber. However, there's nothing we can do about it. So, be careful when buying tires. MfG. Michael
