Hi everyone,

'Recently, my TDI has been idling roughly. You can see it on the tachometer, as the RPMs fluctuate briefly below 1000 RPM and then slightly above. I tried cleaning the fuel filter, but unfortunately, it didn't help.'
The problem is that the error occurs involuntarily.
What could be the reason for that? Should I still go on this trip?
I've often thought about building my own diagnostic connector, but would that actually help with troubleshooting?

Hello,

Can you please provide your engine code, model year, and...
Please post any potential tuning modifications here.
Then the problem can be narrowed down further.

Hi.

1HXO is not an engine code. You should have either the 1Z / AHU (90 hp) or the AFN (110 hp). Please double-check that.

I heard from someone who knows about cars that it might be the lambda sensor. Is that possible, and if so, how much does something like that cost?

Hello,

Since diesel engines always operate with excess air, there is no need for a lambda sensor. Lambda sensors are typically only used in gasoline engines. Therefore, it is unlikely that a lambda sensor would be defective in a TDI engine.

Poste doch bitte mal Deinen Motorkennbuchstaben. You can find it in the...

'ot' - This is an abbreviation and without context, it's impossible to provide an accurate translation. It could stand for many things depending on the field or context.

Hi,

I'm almost afraid to ask this, but I drive a gasoline-powered Golf IV, and I'm interested in the problem with the lambda sensor.
I have a 1.4L engine with 55kW and I'm experiencing issues, especially during the cold start phase, with rough idling and a problem where the engine doesn't respond to the accelerator. When I give it gas in second gear, the engine starts to stall more and more until it dies. Strangely, if I disengage the clutch and rev the engine, it works again.

I once used VAG-COM to check the adapter, thanks Ulf and Andy, and it reported a fault bit in the lambda sensor (fault in lambda control). This bit is intermittent; it turns on while driving, but goes off, and then turns on again when the accelerator is suddenly released.

Is the probe, or its heating element, broken? Can I check the probe connector? If so, where can I find that part?

I am grateful for any advice!

Best regards.
Florian.

Hi,

It sounds like the pump setting is too high }. Does the motor make noises like "whirr whirr whirr..." while it's running???

Well, as my title indicated, I didn't have any text to provide, and since most forums require you to enter some text, I just wrote something random.

Regarding the TDI engine? A lambda sensor? That's only needed for actual EU4 engines, and the Golf 4 doesn't have that (the AXR engine has D4 - which is EU4 without OBD2). It wasn't until the Golf 5 that there was a true EU4 engine with OBD2 (and then a lambda sensor might be used).
