Hello.
Question about MWB 032: What could be wrong with it?
According to the repair manual, the value in field two indicates that the engine is running too lean. This value only decreases when you give it a lot of fuel. In the partial load range, there's not much change. Field 1 is okay. Do you have any ideas about what might be the cause?
Best regards,
Stephan
Is there a gasoline V6 engine with 204 horsepower available in the T4?

Hello Stephan,
Unfortunately, a label file for your control unit is not currently included in the VCDS redirections. However, it is highly likely that the following assumptions apply to the relevant measuring block data:
Quote: | 030,0,Status of Oxygen Sensor.
030,1,B1-S1 (G39),,Target value: 111
1xx - Lambda sensor heating on
x1x - Lambda sensor ready for operation
xx1 - Lambda control active
030,2,B1-S2 (G130),,Target value: 111
1xx - Lambda sensor heating on
x1x - Lambda sensor ready for operation
xx1 - Lambda control active
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
031,0,Lambda regulation.
031,1,Lambda value, Bank1 (Actual value)
031, 2, Lambda value, Bank 1 (Target value)
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
032,0,Lambda regulation - Lambda learning values.
032,1,Learning value, Idle state, Target value: -5.4...+5.4 %
032, 2, Learning value, Partial load, Target value: -10.0... 0.0 %
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
033,0,Lambda regulation, Lambda-rule values.
033,1,Bank 1,Lambda controller, Setpoint: -10.0... 0.0 %
033,2,B1-S1 (G39), Probe voltage, Setpoint: 1.40...1.60 V

See:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
That means your engine is running too lean under partial load.
-> Are the fuel injectors clogged?
-> Is the data current?
Please create a control unit map (VCDS > Applications > Control Unit Map) and email it to sebastian at ross-tech.com.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
First of all, thank you very much for the link. It's really explained well and to the point .
The issue with the label file is a long-standing one: I had repeatedly emailed Ross-tech the control unit image, and at the same time, I tried to convince them that it would be great to also get a label file for my MSG. However, I was told that there was too much to do, that they had to prioritize, and that they would try to include the device, but they couldn't promise anything. It would be better if multiple requests came in for the same device. This was more than a year ago. So, unfortunately, it probably won't happen . It would be helpful for me if the fields were labeled more extensively.
Edit: Just to be sure, here's a follow-up question: The reading from field 2 of the MWB 032 is the value read at idle. Is that correct initially?
"Edit2: Does field 1 in form MWB 031 provide any further information in this context that should be considered? The lambda value is sometimes below 1 at idle, which means the mixture is too rich. And what conclusion should be drawn from this?"
On the one hand, this seems to indicate that the MSG (presumably a sensor or system) perceives the mixture as being too lean, while the lambda control system simultaneously indicates that the mixture is too rich. I no longer understand this at all.
Best regards and thank you.
Stephan.

Hi,

It doesn't matter, it's about the learning value for the partial load range. This is determined over a longer period using the difference between the target and actual Lambda values.
He ensures that the engine control unit doesn't have to constantly adjust, but instead immediately calculates the correct amount of fuel for the desired lambda value.

MWB031 displays the current setpoint and actual value.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
Okay, I understand.
Regarding point 2, I'm not entirely sure: Does a value below 1 in field 1 (setpoint?) mean it should be increased, and does a value of 1 in field 2 (actual value?) indicate that it's okay?
Thank you, by the way, for cleaning up .
Regards,
Stephan.

It's normal for the actual value to fluctuate slightly.

I'd like to revisit this topic.
The display (MWB 032, field 2), which represents the long-term correction and can go as high as 9% in gasoline mode, only shows a slight positive value or, more often, a single-digit negative value when running on LPG: a correction of up to -10% is possible.
If the settings drift apart, it's probably no surprise that cold starting on gasoline causes so many problems in gas-powered engines.
Can anyone figure out what's wrong with this?
Regards,
Stephan.

It's good that you're already telling us that the vehicle has been converted to run on gas. Such important information is usually mentioned in the initial post, especially since this concerns a lambda problem. Please, next time, say something like that.

I said it right away, after I came up with the idea to test it out.
It probably has nothing to do with each other. I would rather imagine that the results obtained with gas operation are suitable for excluding errors that one might consider as causes for the high correction value when operating with gasoline. However, only someone with knowledge and experience in such situations can say that. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. When I read the previous post, it doesn't contain anything enlightening either .
Regards,
Stephan.

Sorry. Gas, no, it's a different construction site. My contribution was only to point out your mistake.

No problem . This is due to the situation where I had been driving on gasoline for the last 800 km, and therefore hadn't even considered using gas.
The reason for this is that the gasoline phase during startup (when the engine otherwise runs on gas) produces extremely poor engine performance – it doesn't move. Seeing how differently the correction values develop for gas versus gasoline, I'm not surprised by the poor engine performance when running on gasoline. I just don't understand why this is the case.
I would assume that a vacuum leak might not be the issue, because if that were the case, the engine shouldn't be running lean on gasoline. Or am I making a mistake in my thinking?
Regards,
Stephan.
