Hello,
The internet hasn't produced anything really relevant yet. I'd like to disable something on my Skoda, specifically:
- The automatic door lock engages when I unlock it, but if I don't do anything for about 20 seconds, it automatically locks again.
"Background: The microswitch integrated into my door lock is defective, and it doesn't recognize the driver's door as "open." This means that if I unlock the car, get in, and wait longer than 20 seconds with the ignition on, the car locks itself. This is particularly risky if you put the key in and then get something out."
I haven't found anything useful in any of the coding lists so far.
Vehicle: Skoda Octavia 1U5, 2003, central locking / remote control, door locks, etc. - similar construction to Golf IV.
Greetings.

According to my information, there's nothing that can be done about it through software. It's a security feature. However, something can be done with hardware, or you could replace the door lock, which only costs 110€.
Edit: MJ 2003, damn, that would require the 1C0 generation of control unit, at least for the Golf IV from MJ 2002. Then it would only work with undesirable side effects.
Please provide the part number for the KSG. MfG. Michael

Hey Michael,
I have to say, it's really great; you always help me with competent information.
Yes, the price of the door lock isn't the issue. The driver's side door lock is broken and it's showing "implausible signal" in the error memory, which means not only is the external door contact switch faulty, but also one of the four internal switches that report the position of the lock mechanism.
You could also potentially replace all the microswitches, and I have instructions for that. Otherwise, I would just buy a new lock; what bothers me more is the effort involved... Removing the door handle (which I hate on Golf IV models), removing the door panel, removing the window pane...
Therefore, I would prefer a software-based deactivation.
Okay, but if it comes to it, I'll exchange it now. I'll read the KSG again later and tell you the part number.
Greetings.
Georg.

Well, there are worse jobs. But I would fix it because it would bother me in the evenings if the light didn't turn on when you open the door. MfG. Michael

I don't drive at night very often, but strangely, it doesn't bother me at all.
Okay, so a 1C0...-KSG...

If you had the old 1J0 KSG, it would be very simple. Just connect a turn signal to terminal 15 of the KSG, add two diodes in between, and that's it. This would briefly simulate an ignition being turned on when you open it.
Problem with the 1C0 KSG: There is no terminal 15 on it anymore. Everything now goes through the CAN bus from the instrument cluster. You would have to connect the turn signal to terminal 15 on the instrument cluster. However, this would also briefly turn on the instrument cluster, which is the undesirable side effect I mentioned. MfG. Michael

No, that's nothing. Yes, I was also thinking about class 15. But I wasn't sure about the CAN part either.
Okay, I guess I'll have to disassemble the thing and desolder the microswitches... I want to test if I can manage to do the soldering.
I managed to fix the passenger-side switch without removing it, just by soaking it in WD-40.

Okay, I also rewired the microswitch about a year ago. It probably took me about an hour, just like you described. That was the cheapest and fastest solution, because tinkering with it now might also take 30 minutes, without actually fixing the problem. However, I definitely wouldn't buy a new lock because you can easily access the switch, and it costs almost nothing.

Well, I don't feel like disassembling the lock. Replacing the microswitches is the easiest part .

Okay, so go ahead and think I'm crazy, but I don't see any obstacles, because that door lock can be picked in 5 minutes, which is about as long as it takes you to boot up the computer, write something here, and look for alternatives .

No, not for the Octavia / Golf IV.
- Remove the door panel.
- Remove the intermediate slide.
- Remove the exterior door handle.
- Remove the window regulator assembly, including the window itself.
- Remove the window pane or glue it in place from the top.
- Remove the lock.
According to my information, it should take approximately 2 hours.

Okay, so there's no film on my Golf IV.
Take off the disguise.
Remove window (2 screws).
Generator carrier out (or whatever that old thing is called).
Check it out.
Putting it all together...

Well, 5 minutes is a bit excessive. Sure, it's quite fast if you know what you're doing. But 15 minutes would pass, unless you just rip everything out without any regard for the consequences. MfG. Michael

The Octavia doesn't have a door panel; instead, it has a plastic film. Mine doesn't have that either; instead, it has a thick layer of aluminum butyl rubber for door insulation. And that stuff sticks like crazy, so I'm leaving it in for now.
By the way, my interior light turns on when I unlock the car. So, it doesn't bother me that much.
I actually found the old door contact switches from the Golf III era to be really practical. In an emergency, you could even repair them permanently and for free by using some battery terminal grease and, if a spring was broken, by salvaging a part from a ballpoint pen.

The 5 minutes refer to the door lock removal process... nothing else.

ah now we're getting closer to the point ^^
I meant that with "door lock removal," I included all the work, from going to the car to the point where the lock is in front of me on the workbench .
