Hello everyone,
"I signed up today because I'm stuck with my project of creating a digital speedometer for my Skoda Octavia. I've obtained a DIY speedometer and powered it up. It works great and displays RPM and speed when the corresponding signal is sent to the pins. However, I can't access the data with VAGCOM; I simply can't establish a connection with the individual speedometer. Is it normal that this doesn't work without additional bus devices, or am I doing something wrong?"
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
René

No, I have to go. I also built something similar, and it works.
Do you provide a voltage source for the interface and the dashboard? MfG. Michael

Yes, the power supply connections for the speedometer and the OBD module are the same. The speedometer is connected to the blue connector with pin 1 and 23 connected to positive voltage, and pin 9/24 connected to ground. The OBD connector has pin 4 and 5 connected to ground, pin 7 (K-line) connected to pin 25 on the blue connector of the speedometer, and pin 16 connected to positive voltage. Do I have any errors in my wiring somewhere?
Sure, here's the translation:
"Thank you in advance."
Best regards,
René

Sure, here's the translation:
"That's how it should work."
Speedometer, blue connector:
PIN 1 = Terminal 15.
PIN 7,9,24 = Terminal 31.
PIN 23 = Terminal 30.
PIN 25 = K-line.
OBD socket:
PIN 4.5 = Terminal 31.
PIN 7 = K-line.
PIN 16 = Terminal 30.
You're missing a mass, so go ahead and attach it. MfG. Michael

Okay, Michael.
dann werde ich morgen mal noch die Gebermasse anschließen. Gute Idee. You're welcome.

Hmmm.... Keine Besserung. VAGCOM findet immer noch kein Kombiinstrument. Damn.

Do you know if the speedometer can even be read? Not because it's faulty, you already said it's for tinkering with.
Is your interface/VAG COM also working correctly? MfG. Michael

I also think the speedometer is way off.
Then I'll have to get myself a new one to tinker with.
My interface is working fine; it functions without any problems in the car.
Thank you. Best regards, René.

Then the problem must be with the speedometer. I built mine according to the configuration mentioned above, and it works perfectly with every speedometer. MfG. Michael
