Doku Golf 1J, from 5/99, Rear door lock not working (Solution)

Rear door is not locking.

Cause:
The "Open" button on the remote control was intentionally or unintentionally pressed. If the door (passenger compartment) does not open subsequently, the vehicle automatically locks itself after approximately 30 seconds. The electrical switch for opening the rear door remains active. The rear door can still be opened at any time.

Solution:
Unlock the vehicle using the remote control and do not open any doors.
Wait until the vehicle automatically locks itself after approximately 30 seconds.
Can the tailgate now be opened with the button on the tailgate, in which case the central locking control unit needs to be replaced.
Affected are only the control units with part numbers 1C0 962 258 N and 1C0 962 258 P.
Modified control units, with the same part number, can only be identified by the manufacturing date (shift/day of the week/calendar week/year).
Control units manufactured from 1999 onwards (calendar week/year) are acceptable. (See the bottom line of the control unit's data carrier.)
