My rear door is very difficult to close. I have to push it firmly to get it to stay closed. Is there a way to adjust this?
There's a rubber buffer in the lock that needs to be pushed in far enough so that the door closes properly.
Here's a picture of what I mean:

Hi,
On the left and right sides of the door, there are rubber bumpers that allow the door to rest against the body. These can be adjusted by turning, which has a significant impact on the door's closure. It might be more effective to adjust these than the lock itself.
I was able to stop the rattling of the rear door by gently tightening the hinges.
Best regards,

Hi Jan,
In the golf, the screws are in the rubber buffers. I had already removed them completely, but it didn't make any difference.
I've now found the solution: simply move the corresponding latch (in the charging edge) a little further outwards. I never thought it would work. Now the flap closes when I gently let it down. A dream...
Have a nice weekend,

But the lid must fit snugly, otherwise exhaust gases and moisture will enter.
Trick (but use with caution!): Unlock the latch so that it can be moved with some force, use your finger to operate the lock, and then let the door fall from a height of approximately 30cm onto the latch. This will then properly push the latch in. Re-tighten the screws on the latch, which should then be sufficient.
The rubber buffers must be adjusted so that the clearances are correct (as far as possible on the Golf 4), check this when the door is closed. The gap from the right-hand side to the roof beam at the top must be the same width along the entire length. |
