Hello everyone, and here's a call for help,

I've been driving a new Golf GTD for two weeks now, and I'm already losing interest in driving it.
The reason for this is, in my opinion, the completely exaggerated "sound" inside, which comes from a so-called. Body sound actuator is electronically generated.
Initially perceived as cool, it now causes my adrenaline levels to rise to an unhealthy degree.
Since it apparently cannot be deactivated (control unit J869), I would like to disable it, or disconnect it from the bodywork.

Can anyone tell me the best way to approach him?
It should be mounted on the passenger-side splash shield, but I'm not sure whether it should be mounted from the inside or the outside.

I would also appreciate a more elegant solution, if possible.

Greetings
gobedi

Please provide the VCDS vehicle scan data, e.g. with the MicroCAN:

From the outside. Windshield arms and water tank cover must be removed. Seal off the detached plug to prevent water from entering the cable bundle.

Can't it be done by "implementing in the CAN gateway"?

If an unnecessary noise-generating device is already installed, then the customer should have the right to either turn it off or adjust it to a comfortable level.

But there is also no regulator attached to the PDC (Parking Brake) lever.
Golf 5 with normal setup -> Volume is okay
Rear seats folded down -> Hearing loss

At least, they are the least adjustable based on diagnosis.

That would also be interesting to me. Although, I believe that the GTD actually gains a lot of its special character from this noise. The current CRs sound very natural IMO, but they don't seem exciting like a vacuum cleaner.

The thing, at least, doesn't appear anywhere separately in the scan. I've attached a full scan (still with Beta 10.3.1 without a label for the engine) as an example.

@HutfahrerViewing profile: Hutfahrer:
The system consists of a body sound transducer and a body sound actuator. I don't know if the connection to the actuator is monitored for plausibility. Otherwise, one could probably insert a voltage divider or a potentiometer. But does the effort, including sealing, connectors, etc., make sense? I think it's great just the way it is.

So, the 1400-1800 W Miele vacuum cleaners really make a difference in terms of sound.
Especially because they are electronically controlled to be turned on, in order to prevent the household fuses from blowing.
One starts the vacuum cleaner on a low setting, then quickly turns the control up, and it then drives the turbine up like a jet... it also makes a nice sound, just like my BMR icon_wink.gif

It sounds just like my Miele... but the GTD sound is completely different icon_cool.gif. Intern, when revving under load, it sounds a bit like an old Giuglia Super. For some, it might be a bit too specific. And it costs fuel because I catch myself unnecessarily revving the engine just to hear it icon_redface.gif.

If you drive through a parking garage with an open window, you unfortunately hear the truth coming from outside -> but rather, you hear Miele. icon_confused.gif

And now, please describe how the GTD sounds with this sound system! Are they trying to make it sound like a car engine, or are they trying to ( B. by using anti-noise technology to eliminate typical diesel noises?

Typical diesel noises? The G VI models are very quiet. The versions I have driven so far are practically indistinguishable from my old ASZ-PD as diesels. Even without a sound generator, I would blindly bet on a slightly rougher, direct-injection gasoline engine, as long as it's not constantly and aggressively revving (especially during light acceleration).

It's hard to describe. During a test drive with one of the very first DSG-GTD models from 05/2009, I initially got the impression that it sounded a bit like a gasoline V8 engine. My manual gearbox, on the other hand, shifted smoothly like an older twin-overhead-cam Alfa. However, this only happens at medium engine speeds when accelerating with at least half throttle. And only during the acceleration process, not during subsequent constant driving. Therefore, I don't find it at all annoying. In everyday driving, I mostly accelerate gently and at low speeds, so it's not even noticeable. During the break-in period, for example, it was never heard.

Currently, the GTI is also being resolved in the same way - starting from week 45/09 - after the previous intake variant was primarily criticized because many drivers wanted to remove it. The exhaust pipe system, unfortunately, has the disadvantage of constantly hissing, not just during acceleration.

Hmm,

First, I need to cool my jaw with ice icon_redface.gif and I probably won't get into the car just yet. Secondly, I don't know if a sound file recorded on a phone will say anything. We're talking about body sounds, which are emitted from the spray wall into the interior. Can a mobile phone record such frequencies?

I'll give it a try when I'm able to drive again.

I found something interesting, so if they all sound like this, I'm impressed – I don't think it's bad at all. If the sound is synchronized with the speed, I think it's fine. Basically, it's a CR. And the swiveling xenon headlights definitely have their appeal.

That's a pretty good description. However, of course, it's only from the inside. And yes, it goes completely unrestricted up to around 4500/min. When you come from PD, it's a whole new world. But it is also shorter than the 140-character CR.

When it comes to Xenon, I find the initial buzzing quite annoying, and it sometimes attracts curious glances.

Honestly, that would be so amazing, but the video I linked is unfortunately a GTI gasoline engine. I was just thinking: Wow, he's really good...
The GTD sound... is actually normal and not intrusive, so I would just leave it as is.
