Document Golf 1J1587, Transmission Console Mounting Not Releasing (Solution)

Do not loosen the transmission console mounting.
(The gearbox console fitting cannot be detached, a screw broke off during repair.)

Cause:
Thermally induced hardening of microencapsulation/fastening screws, console attached to the transmission housing (modified fastening method introduced in series production since 06/98).

Solution:
Repair or, if necessary, replacement of the fastening screws, part number N 104 062.02 (M10 x 80 - microencapsulated).

Screws that are difficult or impossible to remove due to micro-encapsulated adhesive (blue color) can be more easily loosened when the equipment is operating at its normal temperature (approximately 80°C) or by heating the screws with a hot air gun (approximately 80°C).
