Very interesting.

After there were initially several versions of this "device," which is essential for DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) owners, it has now been "transferred" to the CR (Common Rail) system.

I just saw in the showroom that it's now mounted on a separate bracket next to the DiFi, instead of being attached to the motor.

Should it be the case that a vibration-sensitive sensor has been subjected to significant shaking icon_twisted.gif?

This only applies to the four-cylinder engines. On various long-stroke, six-cylinder engines with an underbody filter (i.e., a DPF that is not coated with a catalyst), it has always been located on the engine side, at the entrance to the center tunnel.

I've already replaced one on a four-cylinder engine before. What I found interesting was that the dealership had it in stock, and the temporary parts specialist knew the part number by heart on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM, and pulled it from the warehouse without having to look for it icon_twisted.gif.

On the CR model, it's even more accessible, as you don't have to bend down as much to reach the engine compartment, and it's no longer hidden under a cover.

I can wonderfully demonstrate the effects of aging on my xPD TDIs using my Aresanl.

On the Skoda Superb I (manufactured up to mid-2008), which is largely similar to the Passat 3BG, the differential pressure sensor G450 is also located on the inner fender well, but in the center, and is covered by the plastic charge air pipe that leads to the intake manifold. Removing the hoses from this sensor when replacing it is a real pain.

The part number is 07Z 906 051 A.
This sensor, although having a different part number than the infamous first-generation G450 used by VW, unfortunately also fails: I had to replace mine after just under 3 years because it was gradually showing less and less differential pressure, and occasionally displayed an excessively large offset with the corresponding error message.

That's great: Then you can simply include it when changing the engine oil. The engineers at VAG are really thinking things through icon_biggrin.gif.
