Brake pad wear indicator light is always on.
Up to chassis number 7DY H 140 799.
Cause:
The front brake line (specifically, the section that guides the brake pad wear indicator to the left) is either too short or not properly clipped. The line is broken just before the first bracket in the left wheel well.
Solution:
Extend and repair the brake wear indicator line on the front axle.
2 x Repair hoses, part number 000 979 131.
2 x Grommets, type 357 972 740 D.
2 x Crimp connectors, type 111 971 940 A.
and fabric-backed tape (black, waterproof).
Sequence of operations:
- Remove the wheel.
- Disconnect the wire for the brake wear indicator, located approximately 20 mm behind the cable clip in the wheel well.
- Release the connector for reuse.
- Insert repair cables with ferrules into the connectors.
- Adjust the cable length when the steering is fully turned to the left (in case of a defect on the left side) (approximately 385 mm from the beginning of the connector to the clip on the cable duct).
- Connect the wires using crimp connectors, then shrink the connectors.
- Completely wrap the cable from the plug to the connection point with the heat-shrink tubing. Tschüss
