Seat Occupancy Detection VW Touran 2005

Hi,

I'm getting a 2005 Touran next weekend that has a faulty seat occupancy sensor and keeps beeping even when the seatbelt is fastened. The workshop couldn't fix it, and my friend wants to drive this car to France this Sunday.

Can I simply disable the seatbelt warning like on the G VI using a long coding sequence?

And even more importantly: does the fault detection system affect whether or not the relevant airbag is deployed?

Yes, it shouldn't even require long coding yet. In other words, it should be configured in the same way as you might remember from your old Golf 4.

If you disable the warning about the encoding, nothing changes in the evaluation of the airbag system. In case of a defect, as in this case, it naturally becomes questionable, although the official position of VW/Audi is probably that this only matters in the North American market - but I wouldn't rely on that.
