Hello,

"I've noticed for the past few days that the electric auxiliary coolant pump on my CBBB (2.0 TDI 125 kW CR) only runs for about 30 seconds after the ignition is switched off. Previously, I believe it ran for several minutes."

The actual control seems to be working correctly; it runs continuously when ignition is on, and it also responds during the actuator test.

What is the follow-up control strategy for the electric auxiliary pump? Does anyone know the details?
Is it only controlled based on the coolant temperature, or is there, for example, an additional sensor for the head temperature, as was used on some engines in the past? }

The SSP 403 simply states that a certain component is permanently active when the ignition is turned on.

Hi Roger,
I've had a few fuel pumps that stopped working before, mostly on turbocharged gasoline engines, and those were older than your car. However, I was able to get them working again with a bit of skill. I can't say anything about the control strategy.

I can easily imagine that the pump, for example, might continue to cool down for a while after the regeneration of the DPF is interrupted due to the engine being switched off.

'In my former Focus 1.6TDCI (HDI), the fan would sometimes run for several minutes after the regeneration process was prematurely interrupted.'

Hello Micha,

Luckily, it doesn't get stuck.

I'm just curious if it should automatically start under certain conditions, such as when the oil temperature is above X degrees, or the water temperature is above X degrees, or after a certain burn-in process has been completed, or things like that.

Maybe someone else has information about it, or perhaps it's just a faulty sensor or something.

@voodooViewing profile: voodoo:

I think so too, but you probably wouldn't be able to hear them over the sound of the fans.
I could actually hear her every day, even in the quiet underground garage.

Hm,

Should I be worried?
I haven't heard of that at all... at least, not yet.

Do only CRs have this?

Check the SLP system to see if a V181 is available.
//EDIT: In the 3C model, the Haldex pump is called...
I'll take a look.

I don't know of any PD TDI engines that come with an auxiliary water pump.

My father's Superb 2.0 TDI CR also doesn't have them installed.

V181 was incorrect; it should be V178.
But, in the case of BMR, there's absolutely no way to do that.

No icon_smile.gif.
It's not possible to order these for GTD or GTI models either.

Hi,

I need to chime in here again:

"Unfortunately, I've had to stop the engine unexpectedly four times recently while it was supposedly idling (around 1,000 RPM). In each case, the fans didn't turn on. This happened again this morning. However, when I lifted the hood, I didn't notice any significant heat buildup."

Have I missed the "peak" every time, or is there a defect that could also explain the (apparently) missing coolant pump post-run?

When I run the actuator test in the MSG, I can easily activate the fan at a low speed. This indicates to me that, at least in principle, the electrical power supply to the fans is working.
