Hello,
Okay, here's the translation:
"Just a quick introduction: My name is Tony, I'm 30 years old, and I'm from the Upper Palatinate region. Fifteen years ago, I completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic at VAG." And I worked there for a total of 5 years.
I'm having a problem with my...
Audi A4 B7, 2007, 2.0 TDI engine, 170 horsepower, German license plate (BRD), mileage 150,000 km, manual transmission.
The engine sometimes has problems starting.
(Even now, the preheating indicator light comes on for about 5 seconds at 20°C.)
Then, it starts with difficulty. However, it's not due to the battery. The starter motor engages smoothly.
Once it's started, it starts up immediately, whether it's cold or warm. The starting problem only occurs again after the car has been standing for about 8 hours (overnight).
"The engine often runs very unevenly at idle (with RPM fluctuations of about 50 RPM), and it also produces a lot of smoke (white smoke). Diesel?"
He doesn't always do that, but he prefers it when the engine is still cold or hasn't reached its operating temperature yet.
The following components have been replaced in the last 5,000 kilometers (or miles, depending on the context).
DPF, EGR, glow plugs, dual temperature sensor.
"No errors are stored in the error memory." (according to...) Audi workshop.
Furthermore, Audi checked the turbocharger and injector values. The values are no longer optimal, but still within the tolerance range, and according to Audi, no action is required. That was approximately 5,000 kilometers ago.
Otherwise, the engine runs without any power issues, and the turbo engages properly. The warmer the engine, the better it runs. The consumption is 6.8 liters.
I'm just at the end of my rope now.
What, or how, should I proceed from here?

OBD tuning that also captures start-up parameters or linearization data from the temperature sensors, potentially from a "Gießkanne" (watering can) device? Possibly from the previous owner?
Please read out the temperature values for a cold engine (MWB 007).

Read, or have someone read, the temperature values for a cold engine (MWB 007)! |
I was just at the Bosch service center.
The temperature sensor indicates 88° when the engine is at operating temperature. Okay.
He also checked the injectors again, and the fuel injection volume is perfectly uniform and okay.
His suggestion was also to leave the car parked overnight and check the readings with a cold engine.
I'll try setting it up on Sunday evening, and then I might know more on Monday.
Perhaps someone had an OBD tune done before, how can this be verified?
Which, in this case, was a company car, which actually makes it less likely.

Hello,

For example, using the MicroCAN, one could create a log of the measurements from measurement block 1 under full load.
Best regards, Rainer.

If I have a new software update installed at an Audi dealership, would that overwrite any existing OBD tuning?
And would it revert to its original state?

Here's a quick update:
Bosch Service just called me.
All values are within the acceptable range, even when the engine is cold. All temperature sensors and fuel injection volumes are also within specifications. As well as the preheating time.
But as soon as the engine has been running for about 5 minutes, it starts to smoke very heavily. As I have also noticed myself.
He told me that at that point, the injector for the first cylinder was clearly in the red zone. So, it deviates significantly from the normal values.
He says that either the injector for the first cylinder is faulty, or the engine itself. But in order to do that, he would have to open it.
Okay, so here's my question to you all. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or, how should I proceed from here?
Install a new injector?
If so, does anyone know a good source to get them from?
"Thank you in advance."

Addendum.
Would it make sense to remove the injectors and verschandeln them (using ultrasonic cleaning)?

I just picked up the car.
The recommended troubleshooting steps are:
Compression and pressure loss test: Cost 171.60€.
And if that's okay, the injector for the first cylinder should be replaced.
Injector replacement: €442.
Poetry collection, 45€.
Cable bundle: €75.
Labor costs: €216.30
each + VAT
The injector is from VDO, and according to... The statement is not available as a standalone item and is only provided as part of the AT (Application Tracking) system.
Can someone please provide me with the original part number for the injectors?
Attached are the fuel injection amounts. During the warm-up phase, while idling.
As mentioned before, the amounts are absolutely identical in both the cold and warm states.

Are there any measurements available for that image?
What are the current corrections shown in that diagram?

Unfortunately, no.
I can only say that the engine runs synchronously in both cold and warm conditions, meaning that the same amount of fuel is being injected into all four cylinders.
As you can see in the picture, this is what it looks like for cylinders 2 through 4.

Has the engine already been inspected for cracks in the cylinder head?
Have you had your CO test done yet?
That would be consistent with poor cold start performance.
A faulty injector should exhibit problems consistently, both when the engine is cold and when it is warm.

CO test done yet?
They had done that, and ruled it out.
I'm going to replace the injector of the first cylinder now, just to be sure.
Part number: 03G130073M
Is there anything specific I should be aware of?
Does it need to be adjusted or calibrated in some way?

I have an original repair manual from Audi.
However, unfortunately, this is only applicable to the AVB, AWX, and AVW engines, starting with the A4 model from 2001.
Should the same procedure be followed even with a BRD engine?
You're welcome.
Tony.

Okay. I took it out again.
It has already been described in great detail by @ ulf here:
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
Unfortunately, it's a 1.9 TDI.
And most importantly, I need to know exactly: how many degrees do I need to turn the adjustment screw on my engine?
Quote: | | More recent VAG instructions state that the adjustment screw should only be turned out by 180°, instead of 225°. This applies to all PD engines, even if a previous adjustment value of 225° was specified for the same engine. The reasons behind this change are not known here. |
