Airbag control unit, 2001 model, error code 65535

I believe that the error here is already known.
He appears in the tax equipment models of the 2000/2001 years when the equipment is read.
I now have the problem,
I foolishly tried to read the airbag control unit using VAGCOM V0.78, which resulted in a connection failure. After that, the warning light illuminated and continues to shine brightly.
After that, no further connection to the control unit is possible.
After I updated to version V303.1, I was able to read the control unit again. However, a '65535' error is now stored in the memory, which cannot be deleted anymore.
After a long search on the internet and with DRV-Berlin, it has been discovered that there is a software error.
Well, for now, this isn't helping me at all.
Now it's about how I can best explain this to the VW workshop so that I don't have to pay for the new part.
I definitely want to show some goodwill, as it is actually a software error that was not caused by me, but rather brought to light by me.
What should I tell VW?
should I just pretend to be stupid and let them do it, until they possibly present the invoice to me?
or just stand there stupidly until they tell me what's wrong, and then say that it's not my fault?
or should I be honest from the beginning and say that I used VAGCOM to read the control unit?

ich würde Dir vorschlagen, dass Du zum VAG-Händler gehst und sagst, dass die Airbagcontrolle dauernd leuchtet. Sei dabei, wenn die den Fehler auslesen und lass Dir auf jeden Fall eine Kopie davon geben. Wenn die den Fehler 65535 gefunden haben, auf Austausch des Steuergerätes bestehen (hartnäckig).

kurze rede, langer sinn:
ich war gerade eben bei VW,
nachdem ich das problem erklärt hatte, war der VW meister skeptisch und hat den fehlerspeicher ausgelesen.
danach hat er mein lupilein und die fehlerbeschreibung in den PC gehackt und prommt war auch schon die anweisung zur behandlung des problems da. ( weil die anweisung schon in den PC´s gespeichert ist, muss das bedeuten, das es sich um ein bekanntes problem handelt. )
Anweisung :
steuergerät ersetzen gegen neues steuergerät mit neuer nummer ........
kostensübernahme material und arbeitslohn 100%.

so müsste jeder tag anfangen, das man alle reperaturen auf kulanz gemacht bekommt.

manchmal muss ja auch ich etwas glück haben.
