Hello,
I need 2 new tires... I am currently using Dunlop Wintersport 3D, which are already the 3rd set. Sentence, so far very satisfied, especially with the relatively sporty road handling.
I think, however, that they still came down relatively quickly. The two front ones still have 6mm, then they move backward, the rear ones are almost gone, they have 3mm left.
What should I buy? Dunlop WinterSport 4D to stay with Dunlop and have a relatively similar set of tires in the front and rear?
Or perhaps the slightly more expensive Michelin Alpin 4D, which scored a 1.0 in the wear test with ADAC, and are also quite similar in terms of evaluation to the WinterSport 4D (which scored 2.3 in the wear test!)?
Alternative: If anyone has 2 WinterSport 3D tires in size 195/65R15 that are still in good condition, please let me know... I'm not sure if I'll still have my Skoda for the upcoming winter, so a used, good set of tires would also be okay to ensure I can drive safely until April.
Greetings
Georg |

Regarding wear and performance on both dry and wet roads, I highly recommend the Continental TS830.
Just had to replace 2 of them this year.
I have been driving these tires for 3 1/2 years. That's about 15,000 - 16,000 km per season, so overall, they must have been driven around 50,000 km.
And regarding grip on snow, I can only report positive experiences.
Live here in the Allgäu and go skiing in Austria every 2-3 weeks.
Price was 105€ including. Assembly and disposal of old tires for a 205/55/16 91V are also perfectly fine, I think.
p.s. Value for money tip is the current Hankook Icebear.
Has placed in the top 3 in the latest ADAC test.

I currently have the Alpin A4 in 195/65 R15 all around on my Passat, and I've been very satisfied with them for the past 12,000 km. My parents also have these on their Golf AXR, and they are also very happy with them. Passat Variant BGW 2005

I was also considering the Conti, which we have on the Octavia 2 4x4.
how do you see the 4x4 all-wheel drive with mixed front/rear tires from a driving perspective?
"However, the Haldex all-wheel drive system seems to be relatively insensitive to different tire rolling radii, at least according to the SSP."
The Michelin tires particularly appealed to me because of their excellent wear rating. As I drive approximately 35,000 kilometers per year, I'm definitely not a very light driver. This means that the tires will likely cover around 20,000 kilometers in the winter and 15,000 kilometers in the summer... |
