Hello,

I have an Audi A6 Avant 4F5 with a 2.0 TDI DPF engine.
103 kW; BRE engine.
Approximately 165,000 kilometers driven.

My ash content is above 55g. According to Audi, the limit is 60g. This means that during my next service, they will likely want to replace my DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

The car will be out of commission for a few days anyway, as it's getting a new clutch, dual-mass flywheel, transmission oil, brakes, and a few other minor things. It also has VCDS and other diagnostic tools.

So, I see the following possibilities:

a) Self-flushing.
Advantage: No prolonged idle times.
Disadvantage: The cleaning effectiveness is questionable. It may be necessary to subsequently adjust the correct ash mass value.

b) Send the DPF to a cleaning company.
http://www.dpf-clean.de
http://www.go-helo.de
http://www.advanpure.com
http://www.russfilterreinigung.de/
...

They will do it for approximately 400 EUR. Advantage: (Hopefully) a good cleaning with zero ash residue. Disadvantage: The car has to stay there for about a week.

Has anyone here had experience with any of these companies? Do the companies differ in terms of the type or quality of cleaning they provide? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any reliable reviews online.

Greetings,

Thomas.

Hi,
"Why don't you check the price for a new DPF? It doesn't necessarily have to be an original Audi part. You work in the industry and know where to find them, right?"
The retrofit kits for the older models cost €700.
In addition to the at least 400€, there are shipping costs, risk, and questionable durability.
If he already needs a clutch and dual-mass flywheel, he might as well replace them completely (or do it himself).

The filter is only available directly from Audi; there are no aftermarket alternatives on the market. The part costs well over €1000 from Audi, excluding installation.
Spare parts are not available.

The retrofit filter is not compatible because the vehicle in question was already equipped with a closed filter from the factory.

I had a company that sent the filter as a replacement.
After installing the replacement part, the customer could return the old part and receive a refund of the deposit they had previously paid.

There was even a guarantee of the cleaning results.

I can check my emails to see if I can still find the provider.

P.S. I recommend cleaning it yourself.
It worked perfectly, and I didn't have to mess around with the ash content.

Hello,

'The ZMS is purely a 'safety measure'. It cost me 200 euros, and if the transmission has to be removed anyway for the clutch...'

So far, I haven't been able to find any aftermarket DPFs. I also haven't extensively inquired with my parts suppliers yet. Which manufacturer offers these?

Thomas.

Here are the part number(s) of the DPF in my case:

8E0254750H
8E0254750HX (= current part number)

@voodoo
Pressure washer (cold/hot?), garden hose, or compressed air?
How did you subsequently adjust the ash content?

Thomas.

The adjustment of the ash mass (often referred to as "playing around with the ash mass value") is necessary not only for DIY versions ("do-it-yourself" in modern German), but also for versions that have been cleaned by someone else, or for exchange versions offered by the cleaning services.
Cleaning the DPF doesn't make it new. The replacement version is also just cleaned by a third party, and it simply came from a different vehicle before.

A VW dealer is offering the part number 8E0254750HX online for approximately €1000, with a requirement to return the old part.

Hello,

The current list price is EUR 1020 including VAT. I need to check how much discount I can get on this product group. It might be around 20%.

So, the new DPF costs 'only' twice as much as having it cleaned. A difficult decision.

Thomas.

@voodoo
Pressure washer (cold/hot?), garden hose, or compressed air?
How did you subsequently adjust the ash content?

The DPF was cleaned with a high-pressure washer while it was still cold.
With a rotating nozzle.

After that, it was pre-dried with compressed air and reinstalled.

I've documented everything here.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
