Hello everyone,
What is the standard boost pressure for the 1Z engine (90 hp TDI)? I suspect there's a maximum pressure limit, and then a table showing engine speeds and boost pressure values, right?

Hi.

The 1Z has a maximum pressure of approximately 0.9 bar (regulated).

There probably isn't a simple table available.
The air intake is (roughly) regulated so that the amount of air drawn in is sufficient to allow the fuel injection amount, requested by the accelerator pedal, to be injected without producing soot.

At what point should this boost pressure of 0.9 bar be reached on a 1Z engine? Mine only reaches about 0.9 bar at around 2200 RPM.

Hi,

While it also depends somewhat on the gear you're in, but in 5th gear... The pressure should be around 0.9 bar at approximately 1,900 revolutions per minute.
At 1,500 RPM, it should be approximately 0.5 bar.
These are my 1Z experience values.

On my 1Z engine (chipped), the boost pressure reaches approximately 1 bar at around 1950 RPM and approximately 1.1 bar at 2050 RPM.

Hm, something's not right again. icon_confused.gif
At 1500 RPM, I'm getting a boost pressure of 0.2 - 0.3 bar...

'However, my wastegate is movable; I've tested that. When I briefly lift off the throttle at 2500 RPM and then immediately apply full throttle again, the boost pressure returns to full immediately and regulates to just under 1 bar. So, the mechanics should be working correctly...' I have also never experienced any limp mode issues due to excessive boost pressure or any similar errors stored in the memory.
I also installed a new solenoid valve, but it didn't make any difference. Does anyone else know what's going on? Sure, here's the translation:

'Advice?'

Hi,

The usual.
Are all the air passages between the charger, the LLK (likely referring to a specific component), and the intake manifold airtight?

It's possible that with a very slight air leak, the charger might not be able to build up enough pressure at low speeds, but at higher speeds, it provides so much excess pressure that the leak is 'overwhelmed' icon_rolleyes.gif.

Hi Markus,

The idea isn't bad. I hadn't even thought of that direction. But since I check that regularly, the problem probably isn't there... By the way, the LLK isn't actually that old yet...
I'm not entirely comfortable with those thick icon_rolleyes.gif pipes, but in case of leaks, oil should be leaking out.

Okay, so I disassembled everything today and reassembled it (see the other thread 'Intake manifold'). Everything is sealed, and I don't hear any pressure leaks anywhere icon_eek.gif.

Could this also be a software bug?

or

Is there something like a protection feature in the 1Z? The coolant temperature never exceeds 75°C when driving normally (to save fuel).

What else could be the reason why the turbocharger is coming on so late?
