Hello everyone.
First of all, a big thank you to this forum!
Unfortunately, despite months of searching, I still haven't found a solution to my engine problem.
Vehicle specifications:
Octavia 1Z.
2.0L TDI
103 kW / 140 hp
with DSG.
Year of manufacture: 2005.
MKB: BKD
190,000 km
Now, let's address the problem:
Severe shaking/jerking ONLY when the engine is warm.
"The engine has been experiencing severe jerking between 1300 and 1900 RPM for the past week. This issue has been present for the last 30,000 kilometers. The jerking/stuttering is so strong that the entire car shakes. Once it gets out of that RPM range, it runs smoothly again."
We replaced the mass airflow sensor (MAF), the pressure sensor cable harness under the valve cover, all the charge air and vacuum hoses are leak-free, and we replaced the diesel filter.
Last Friday, we removed and cleaned the AGR valve (also known as the intake manifold control valve) â it was completely covered in deposits. It ran normally for a day (about 50 km). On Saturday, it displayed an "Exhaust" error, and when warm, it started to sputter heavily above 1900 RPM, up to about 2600 RPM.
-It's running at full power and reaching its top speed of 215 km/h.
- No oil consumption.
- Slight water loss, requiring a small amount every 2000 km.
- The turbo is barely audible.
- No cold start issues.
- No white smoke or soot.
-Problem only occurs above 60/70 degrees.
I just bought a VCDS and I'm hoping to be able to locate the error somehow.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start now?
I have relatively little experience with material handling and logistics transportation.
Best regards,

First, perform a complete error scan and post the results here.
And identify the source of water loss.
See, for example, here:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate into English.

Addendum;
The water loss is extremely minimal; I just checked again. After 2000 km, there's very little to no consumption.
The AGR (presumably a waterway or canal) has been completely closed off with a plate for the past few days.
The diesel consumption is 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers during normal driving on country roads. If you drive carefully, it's possible to achieve a consumption of 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
I will run the error scan later.

The "exhaust emissions" error is likely due to the EGR valve, which was probably sealed for testing purposes only. The EDC system might detect this. However, you'll definitely see more information with VCDS.
That has nothing to do with the shaking/vibration.
"First, run a complete error scan and post the results here."

A master once said that you should try closing the AGR for testing purposes.
What measurement blocks should I record during the "bouncing" process?
I'll post the error scan as soon as I get home...
Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards, Melli.

Hello,
Quote: | | Exactly one master said that you should try closing the AGR for testing purposes at some point. |
Unfortunately, this is not a good approach for this engine because it would immediately result in an error message and activate the emergency program.
Your error message in the scan may therefore originate directly from this measure. However, since the throttle body module and EGR valve are potential sources of errors, it would be useful to remove both and examine them. If they are defective, you can usually tell fairly quickly.

Can anyone tell me which MWB (Material Work Breakdown) I should be logging?
I hope we can see something that triggers the stuttering/jerking.
It definitely has something to do with the temperature.
Best regards,

Hi Kaspa!
In case of problems within certain temperature ranges, always and first check the plausibility of all temperature sensor readings, for example, when a vehicle has been completely cooled down overnight.
So, using VCDS, check the measuring blocks in the engine control unit and see if all the displayed temperatures are approximately the same.
As Rainer already mentioned: If the PD wiring harness is not the culprit, then the AGR (AbgasrĂźckfĂźhrung) and throttle valve module are the next likely candidates.
Best regards from Munich!

Thanks for the tip. Do I just need to check it with the ignition on, or should I also start the engine?
Should I also measure the temperatures when the system is in a warm state?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"Best regards," or "Sincerely,"

Sure.
Only with the ignition on, because when the engine is running, various temperatures immediately start to rise and at different speeds from the outside temperature - makes sense, right?
In warmem Zustand die Werte auf Plausibilität zu prßfen wird an der Erfahrung scheitern, darum hast Du mit den "kalt"-Werten erstmal einen guten Ansatz, ob's da fehlt oder eher wo anders (s. Rainer's post).

"Hey, let's check the pressure holding capability of the tandem pump. If it's not maintaining pressure, the seals on the internal gear elements are likely defective. I had a similar issue some time ago; I disassembled it, replaced the seals, and it's been running perfectly ever since."
Best regards.

Here are the temperatures in a cold state.
Coolant: 15.3°C
Oil: 26.1°C
Fuel: 13.5°C
Intake manifold: 6.3°C
Clutch: 17.1°C
Then I looked at the MWB 013 while it was in a warm state. Are those values/deviations normal?
Thank you for your help.
The Octi must be running perfectly in 4 weeks, because a vacation to the WĂśrtersee is planned (1200 km).

"Normal... but that's how he normally drives, right?"
So, why shouldn't the values be normal during the time when the car is driving normally?
What does the person asking the question learn from this?

I have absolutely no idea about that. The technology is unfortunately too new or not as simple as it was with a Golf 2.
Then I won't see anything during a logging operation, even under full load, because it only happens at partial load, right?
This car is driving me crazy .

Um... the log should primarily contain information about the stuttering, right?
