Hello and greetings to you all!
Currently, I'm having some trouble with a LWR control unit for a T5 GP manufactured in 2012. The control unit is recognized and responds, and data can be read from it, but it cannot be programmed. I tried entering the coding of a comparable vehicle (020A000001000000), but that was unsuccessful. The coding is not accepted; the error message says "Invalid value." Then I tried a second control unit and encountered the same errors. Fixed values are being displayed for the axles.
Please provide the scan so I can translate it for you.

Kann ich eigentlich eine "Bandendeprogrammierung", in der ja die Fahrzeugzugehörigkeit festgelegt wird, durchfĂŒhren? WIf so, how?

Is the control unit "straight from the assembly line" before it was finished? It probably came from eBay, right?

I found a scan online for an LWR control unit that was originally installed in the vehicle.

"Bucht" is correct, the provider seemed reliable to me...
I have another idea, but before I write anything else, I'm going to try it out this afternoon and then get back to you.

Does the control unit support the "Extended ID" function?
"No band-aid programming is being done," what's so hard to understand about that?
It pretty much points to it being stolen. Either directly from the factory, or someone tried to erase the serial numbers from the EEPROM and unfortunately deleted too much data.

This has never happened to me before... It's a mess... I still have his information, so I'm going to confront him about it.
Should I file a police report?
Thank you and best regards,

First, it depends on whether the item is genuine or not; if it's counterfeit merchandise, your money might be lost.
I would like to inquire about this via email and, depending on the response, consider contacting the police. However, I suspect it might be classified as a minor offense and simply dismissed. Unfortunately, in such cases, people (if they are indeed guilty) never receive the just punishment they deserve.
Is this part brand new, or does it show signs of wear and tear, suggesting it was removed from a vehicle? That would immediately raise the question of why.

Hello!
I could really get incredibly angry...
The part looks brand new, so I was optimistic.
What surprises me is that the loan control unit behaved exactly the same way, hmm.
I'm going to try contacting the seller now...
A new engine has been ordered from Volkswagen.
Greetings,
Peter.

The problem now is just...
When I started planning this a year ago, I gradually gathered all the necessary parts. I can't even remember who I bought them from anymore. The purchase confirmation emails don't help either; after extensive research, they only lead to a shady-looking office of some agency, blah, blah, blah...
I'm just going to throw this thing away, or does anyone want it for free to play with?
Classic case of "learning the hard way" .
Greetings,
Peter.

Hello and greetings to you all!
Finally, it was time to install the new ALWR control unit from the VW dealer. Everything went quite well, including the initial setup, and everything seemed fine at first. But then I turned on the ignition and the lights... I can't believe it. The right headlight goes up and down, while the left headlight goes down and up??
First thought: wiring error.
Regarding the wiring: For this conversion, I created a complete wiring harness based on original schematics, using original wire colors and gauges, and proper automotive-grade wires â not just any old wires. The wiring harness was tested during manufacturing and again at the end using a measuring device. These tests were marked with a checkmark for each individual wire to ensure accuracy. My goal was to minimize the risk of wiring errors as much as possible.
Before I remove the LWR control unit again to check the connector, and having already confirmed that everything was okay with the headlight itself, I first tried the recommended coding using the letter "A".
Through the encoding process using long coding, the following code was generated:
020E000001000000
UTF-8
Here's the translation:
"Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation itself, without any explanations."
020A000001000000
Interestingly, the code cannot be entered directly; even when typed correctly, it is not accepted. Only by checking the boxes for direct coding can the changes be saved.
And now for the interesting part! Now the error pattern has reversed. Now the left headlight goes up and down first, and then the right headlight goes down and then back up, which is exactly the opposite of the previous error pattern.
A basic setting is now no longer accepted . I select the function, adjust everything, and end the story with "done, go back," but the error persists.
Am I already suffering from "occupational blindness"? Am I overlooking something?
Since the headlight control now functions in the same way, I assume the wiring is correct; otherwise, the fault wouldn't have moved from right to left.
What mistakes can be made during the initial setup?
What influence can the axle sensors have? Since there are no error entries related to them, they should be within their operating range, right?
Greetings,
Peter.

A headlight test can only be performed vertically, but the T5 doesn't have cornering lights. I either missed a test or I don't remember what it was... I really think I might have a vision problem; I must have overlooked something.

Hi,
Why don't you try the basic settings?
Output tests are something completely different.
What does the mask look like at the differing position in the LCode?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer!
"That's the main problem: while the basic settings can be performed, the values apparently aren't being saved. I've tried performing the basic settings multiple times, but without success. The existing error cannot be cleared. As soon as I clear the error, you can hear the headlight actuators humming, and then the error reappears."
"L-code mask?" Please don't hit me, but could someone explain this to me briefly?

Peter.
