Hi,

My "French bucket" (Renault Megane Scenic (JA0), 1999, 1.9dTi) with a VP37 engine is having problems after a simple battery replacement. The immobilizer light (which normally flashes when the key is removed) is completely off, and after the preheating cycle, the preheating light is flashing. The typical sound (RRRRRRRR) of the quantity setting device on the ESP is completely absent, and starting the engine is obviously pointless without a functioning ESP.

What I have done so far:

- All fuses in the passenger compartment and engine compartment checked: CHECK.
- Battery disconnected overnight: CHECK
- Board voltage 12.2V during preheating (55A at the beginning of preheating): CHECK
- Using a custom OBD system for that year of manufacture is pointless: CHECK
- Checking whether the control unit could potentially lose important data... No: CHECK
- Check for issues with the immobilizer system, which only occurs in older models with infrared remote controls: CHECK.
- Radio keys, etc. are working: CHECK
- Disconnected the large connector from the control unit, then turned the ignition on. Headlight remains completely off: CHECK.
- Connection to setpoint checked: CHECK

It appears that the control unit is still receiving power, but is refusing to operate the ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
If I remember correctly, a flashing preheating light indicates an error in the ESP system. So far, so good.
It looks like this will be a bigger construction project. *Sigh*

The ohmic values of the dosing system are within acceptable limits, and there appears to be a correlation with a battery replacement.
I can't really make that out either. So, I'm thinking about the circuit diagrams.

As far as I can see, the fuel safety switch S39 is the only power supply to the control unit via terminal 15 and F6, and the main power for the systems is connected via the engine control relay K46. Am I understanding this correctly? Does anyone know when and under what circumstances the control unit K46 is activated?

And how does the immobilizer system function in this system? Is the ESP actually being implemented this way?
"Is this supposed to be deactivated, and now it's interfering with things? So many questions..." The Renault enthusiasts with...
I can't ask about a working OBD device right now because they are too far away, and the car isn't running.

Best regards,

Fingers.

Do you have written permission to use excerpts from Autodata and to distribute them publicly? icon_eek.gif

If not, I would rather avoid doing something like that icon_cool.gif icon_wink.gif.

First, I would obtain a wiring diagram specifically for the vehicle directly from Renault, because the ones from atadotuA are not always accurate.
