Therefore, everything is tilted by 20 degrees, and this angle is also detected and measured. As a result, the ABS/ESP system receives incorrect signals, making the entire situation 'implausible.'

If the flat cable is mounted too far away, it can tear off under stress.

Since it's already at the maximum setting with just potentially 2 rotations, instead of the expected 2.5. icon_wink.gif

Hmm, I think I understand the principle you mean: so the LWS doesn't take the steering angle from the steering column axis, but directly from the steering wheel?

But I only remember seeing 2 holes in the steering wheel flange for the dismounted driver's airbag.
1. Steering axis.
2. Flat connector for airbag and horn.
... but to no other accompanying findings that I could attribute to the LWS.
Does the lower steering column connector (LWS) essentially connect from behind via the flat contact connection, or what does the LWS coupling look like for the steering wheel?

I understand that. icon_wink.gif

The sensor is driven by the steering wheel. If the steering wheel is misaligned on the steering shaft/axis by a few teeth, for example, then the steering angle sensor will also be out of alignment.

To ensure proper alignment during installation, mark the steering wheel position relative to the steering column, for example, with a marker pen (like an Edding).

When replacing components such as the steering angle sensor or torsion spring, it is important to ensure that the steering wheel is removed while it is in a straight-ahead position. New parts are usually fixed in the center position.

You can find the LWS (likely referring to a specific component) located beneath the steering column assembly.
Depending on the generation of the vehicle, this issue may also be located in the steering linkage.

Okay, so is the transparent disc in the image "lws1" both the flat ribbon cable connector and the steering wheel-side actuator for the LWS?

EDIT:
I just found a photo of my old steering wheel with the airbag removed. The red circles appear to show the retaining pins, as can be seen in image "lws1" – I had simply forgotten about those inconspicuous details.
Thank you for your explanations icon_smile.gif.

The connector is a bit looser, and the retaining clips are more like small, rubberized bumps.
