hi,
My Lupo's 3L engine is assembled with accessible mounting points.
as shown in the image in the SSP.
Does the tensioner bolt pass through the engine block and is it glued in place with Loctite for easier assembly?
The head is then screwed onto the base with 'nuts,' and the crankshaft bearing supports are also attached in the same way.
The service manual states that the crankshaft should not be removed because doing so could cause the bearing blocks to warp.
Well, that's okay up to this point, as long as you're not allowed to remove the crankshaft.
But what about the head?
VW normally uses stretch bolts as cylinder head bolts, which are designed for single use only.
What about the access anchors?
If it were similar to a 'tension anchor' system, it would mean that you couldn't replace the head gasket because you can't replace the tension anchors.
Do you know more about the anchor bolts, and is it possible to replace the head gasket?
'My engine only has 45,000 km on it, and so far I've heard that they can easily last for 200,000 km.'
but just out of curiosity, I'll ask.
because I can't really imagine it.
VW is building an 'disposable' engine.
where there is damage to the engine block or cylinder head.
You can only replace the entire assembly.
