Hello.
You're only away for a few weeks, and suddenly everything is turned upside down! Well, I guess I'll get used to it...
Okay, here's the translation:
'So, my problem is with my '98 Passat that has 150,000 km on it. A while ago, I started hearing a clunking noise in the front axle when driving on uneven surfaces. So, I took it to a local repair shop (which translates roughly to 'Association of Poor Businessmen'), and their diagnosis was a broken stabilizer bar linkage. This is apparently a common problem, so I bought a new one and installed it, but the clunking didn't go away. Now, in addition to the clunking on the left side, there's also a squeaking noise on the right side when the suspension compresses. Today, I went back to the VAG dealership: their diagnosis was that the lower rear guide arm is squeaking on the right side, and both upper control arms are defective at the bearing on the left side.'
Me(chanikers)?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Alchard

Hello,
Have you tried contacting them through their goodwill policy? In the "Problems/Solutions" section, there's an article about Volkswagen's goodwill policy. It describes this exact problem with the 3B engine. Perhaps you might still qualify based on your mileage or the age of the vehicle? Tschüss

Hello.
What about the goodwill policy when you install the parts yourself? In the case of the stabilizer link, it was just stated that it costs around 100 euros, and there was no mention of any goodwill at that time. When they showed me the part, which can actually be replaced in a few minutes, I said I would install it myself (which still cost 30 euros). I have someone who can get me the parts for about 25% cheaper (which is still around 220 euros, if their diagnosis is correct).
Best regards,
Alchard

Hello,
In the article, the material and labor costs are listed separately.
You could talk to your mechanic about it sometime. Tschüss
