VCDS - Communication Interrupted. WIN 8.1 (Solved)

Hello everyone, I've recently been experiencing an issue where, when trying to read data from various vehicles (engine control unit), I receive the error message "Communication with engine control unit not possible" after about 2 minutes. When trying to read the data again, it stops after 2 minutes.
Not every vehicle in the appendix has a log from the Polo showing where the problems occur.

The PC data is attached along with the VCDS data.

VCDS is up to date and has already been reinstalled.

Have you tried connecting to the vehicle with a different computer or laptop to rule out the vehicle itself as the source of the problem?

I would first uninstall it again, then download the version from the store and install it again. The same applies to the Rosstech USB driver package; if it needs to be installed separately under Windows 8?

Hi Dani,

Please check which background services are currently running (your computer isn't exactly a high-performance machine).
If programs that temporarily halt the computer's operation, such as antivirus scanners, are running, the communication may be interrupted.

I managed to get VCDS working smoothly again.

First, I turned off all the visual effects to make the laptop run faster. After that, I right-clicked and ran the compatibility troubleshooter.

I've been able to test it on 4 vehicles without any problems.

To access performance information and tools, first click the "Start" button, and then click "Control Panel." In the search bar, type "performance information and tools" and then click on "performance information and tools" in the results list.

Click on "Customize visual effects." Administrator privileges required. If you are prompted to enter an administrator password or confirmation, please enter the password or confirmation.

Click the "Visual Effects" tab, then click "Adjust for best performance," and then click "OK." (A less drastic solution is the "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" option, which allows Windows to select the effects to disable.)

It would be interesting to know which of the two changes ultimately led to the desired outcome.

It's unfortunately well-known that Windows 8.1 sometimes tends to be problematic.
