I'm having the following problem:

I recently had an accident; someone hit me from the front, on the left side. Everything has been repaired and straightened out.

Today, I wanted to install my summer wheels and tires (7.5x16 ET35 with 205/45), but to my dismay, I discovered that the ones on the left side no longer fit under the fender liner, which probably means they can't be registered. There's still a little bit of clearance on the right side, though!
Can anything still be corrected here, and if so, how?
It looks really bad when the tires stick out different amounts on the left and right sides!

Hello.

Hi,

It seems the workshop didn't fix everything, otherwise your car's chassis and body would be perfectly symmetrical.
What kind of car do you drive? The size makes me think it's a Golf III...

Perhaps the previous owner widened the fender arches, which means the new, original left fender might not fit properly.
If not, I would definitely complain.

Have you looked at the measurement report? Is everything within the tolerance range?

I just went around the car with a measuring tape and took some measurements, and I noticed the following:

The replacement fender is 1 cm narrower than the original right-side fender.
Can I make a complaint about this?
It might not be the original, but it should still have the same dimensions, right?

Hello.

PS: Oh yeah, could you please check the readings on your G3 device?

Okay, so measure from the inner edge of the fender, where the hood ends, to the outermost edge!
and from the spring to the very edge!

What values are you using there?

Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I only have an I-generation model; the III-generation model was sold a long time ago.

But if it's only a matter of a centimeter, your workshop should be able to fix it by pulling. When you have a repair done, you can expect them to restore your car to its original condition. If they're already using cheaper aftermarket parts, then they also have to ensure a proper fit.
