Hello,
Likely, we will receive a Skoda Rapid Spaceback with a 1.4l TSI engine in March.
According to the catalog, it weighs a mere 1225 kg, including. Driver.
As an extra, we also ordered the off-road suspension: according to the price list, 15mm higher, modified dampers, and engine underbody protection.
Now I had already downloaded the manual beforehand and was amazed: The version with the off-road suspension is always 45kg heavier than the standard version!
Does this mean that the empty weight will also be correspondingly higher (unfortunately, the empty weights are not mentioned anywhere in the instructions), or will we also receive a real additional loading capacity as a bonus?
The engine underbody protection could add a few extra kilograms, but where else in the suspension area could almost 10 kilograms of additional weight come from?
BTW: According to the catalog, the off-road suspension cannot be ordered with 16" or 17" (aluminum) wheels.
Can it be due to practical vehicle engineering reasons, or is it simply to prevent complaints about damaged alloy wheels after "off-road use"?
