Hi,
I have a Golf IV TDI PD that is now three years old. Since the weather has been so hot, it's been squeaking like an old wheelbarrow. It's really awful, especially when driving over even the smallest bumps. Is there anything I can do about it, like spraying something? If so, where exactly should I spray it?
It's barely tolerable... he didn't used to do that before!

Thank you, Histe.

Hello Histe!

Welcome to the club of squeaking suspensions. My A3 had the exact same problem. It started for me after about 3 years.
The noise only occurred during warm and dry weather conditions.

Check out this post:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

After the grease treatment of the described rubber mounts, a significant improvement icon_wink.gif in the noise level occurred.

Regards,
Alex.

Hi Alex... Thanks, that helps a lot... Could you send me the picture of Andreas?
If you still have it?

Thank you.
Hoist.

@histe:
Okay, I mainly treated the rubber bushings of the stabilizer bar coupling with grease spray. Be careful here that nothing gets onto the brake discs. It's best to let it soak in (capillary action!) and then wipe off any excess grease from the outside, so that it doesn't somehow end up near the brakes.
I also sprayed grease onto the rubber bushings located between the mounting brackets and the stabilizer bar on the underside of the vehicle, specifically on the lower control arms.

I recently read a post in this forum where a G4 driver had new, i.e. modified, mounting brackets and rubber bushings installed for the anti-roll bar. Perhaps that's the best long-term solution?

As I mentioned before, the noise level has improved significantly, but I still think you can hear a slight noise under dry and warm weather conditions. However, this is only noticeable with the radio turned off and the side window open.

If you want the image, you need to provide me with your email address. Unfortunately, I don't have my own website to provide you with a link.

Regards,
Alex.

hi alex,
I already received a picture and instructions from Denis last week and did it on Saturday... it's basically the same as what you did... the leaves seem to be disappearing... let's see how it changes when it gets warmer... talk to you later!

Hoist.
