VW T5, 2.0 BiTDI, excessive oil consumption (Solution)

Engine affected: 2.0 BiTDI CFCA 179 hp, possibly also other models.
Problem description: Excessive oil consumption, DPF constantly clogging.

Besides the usual suspects for high oil consumption, such as a faulty turbocharger, a compression test should be performed in this case. It is also advisable to inspect the cylinder bores, for example using an endoscope.

Background: Scratches can form on the cylinder walls due to particles dislodged from within the engine or foreign objects that are drawn in, ultimately leading to engine damage. Check the AGR valve and AGR cooler for damage or foreign objects.
