Audi A8 4E: Program new keys

Hello everyone,

When I was on vacation in Croatia in August, I couldn't unlock or lock my car remotely; it only worked manually using the key.
I went to the nearest dealer (Audi HR), and they tried to fix the problem, but unfortunately, without success.
My question is: When I order new keys, can I easily program them with VCDS?
And secondly, is there a way to retrieve the login code? The login code isn't available; the tag with the code number has been lost.

Without logging in, you won't be able to calibrate the WFS with VCDS, as reading data is not possible without a login.

And if you only replace the radio container?
You can program it using VCDS, and you don't need a login for that. It's also much cheaper. And it's not exclusively available at the dealership.

Furthermore, if completely new keys are absolutely necessary, you could also remove the transponders from the old keys and transfer them to the new keys. This would eliminate the need for the Whole Key System (WKS) as well.

Replacing radio modules in the 4E system isn't straightforward because everything is still on a circuit board, and even the transponders are soldered onto that board.
Before I buy new keys, which cost CHF 250 here in Switzerland, I've decided to solder transponders onto used 4E remote key fobs. I will report back on whether it works.
