Downgrade software 24Q1

Hello everyone,

'In my VW Touran 2.0 TDI 16V with engine code BKD, the well-known 'Action 24Q1' was performed in 2009, which involved a software update. Like many others, I have experienced problems since then, such as a poorly shifting transmission, especially in cruise control mode, increased fuel consumption, and slightly reduced power.' I was wondering if I could try having a workshop revert the software to a previous version.

BUT: Although all the changes sound very negative, and many things speak in favor of the older software, I wanted to ask the community here if this would really be a good idea. Because I am aware that an update usually brings improvements, but perhaps that is not the case here. What I have read claims that, according to VW, the update should prevent a rough running of the engine in the lower and middle RPM range. However, I don't know how much of that is true. From a purely logical point of view, this also makes sense as to why I have higher fuel consumption with less power: Because the rougher an engine runs, the less efficient it is, but the more stressed the engine becomes. Increasing the speed and a few other parameters will make the engine run more smoothly, but it will consume more fuel. I was unable to determine exactly what changes were made in that update.

This leads me to my questions:
- Does anyone know any more details about the 24Q1 update?
- Are there perhaps some people here in the forum who have experience with the software and have reverted to an older version?
- Is it even possible to downgrade the software to an older version?
- Do you happen to know anyone in the area of Bavaria who can downgrade the software?

I'm not familiar with this specific action, but usually, you should be able to downgrade to an older software version.

Is this related to the transmission or the engine?

The update changed both the MSG (presumably a system or module) and the GSG (likely another system or module) in the same way. It's worth noting that the car had less power, and in cruise control mode, it would downshift from 6th gear to 5th gear at around 120 km/h. He downshifts even for the slightest incline.

Are there "before and after" Autoscan results available?
The DSG might be challenging...

Unfortunately, I don't have a previous car scan available, but I can obtain the software number and some other information from today.
