Hello everyone,

I bought a used 2.0 TDI CFHC model year 2012.
Can I use VCDS to check if the software update for reduced NOx emissions has already been installed?

Here is the excerpt from the Autoscan:

"Die Sonne scheint hell, und die Vögel zwitschern fröhlich. Ein leichter Wind weht durch die Bäume, und die Blätter rascheln leise. Es ist ein wunderschöner Tag, um draußen zu sein."

9979 should be the NOx software.

You could also simply check the FIN (Financial Identification Number) to see if the update has been applied or not.

Hello!
I haven't seen it myself yet.
However, in the media, it was reported that a sticker would be attached to the trunk floor with the update.
Grüße, Steffen!

Where do you buy your cars? Is there no documentation or service booklet available? That would certainly make me suspicious.

If there's no information available, I would suggest contacting VW to inquire about the vehicle's history, if any records exist.

Hi,
The stickers for the spare tire compartment are only available from Skoda; VW and Audi no longer supply them.
Normally, a note should be made on the last pages of the service booklet, but unfortunately, this is often forgotten.
As mentioned before, simply drive to the next car dealership with the VIN and they can identify it within seconds.

This was noted in the service booklet by AMAG (Audi Importer Switzerland).

Thank you all for the many answers.

The link from Wirus.
http://info.volkswagen.de/de/de/home.html
It provided clarification. My car is registered there with an exhaust treatment measure, which probably refers to the update.

There's no sticker in the trunk in my car.
The service booklet is also blank. The last service was in the summer of 2016 at 120,000 km and was normally stamped.

Here's a summary for the CFHC:
Component: R4 2.0l TDI H25 9979 indicates an NOx update.

The car regenerates energy every 200 km with a 50%/50% mix of rural and city driving, and it can sometimes go up to 400 km on longer highway trips. I found these intervals to be a bit short, so I inquired about them. Based on everything I could find (or not find) on the internet, this seems to be consistent with the new software version.

Best regards, Georg.

...

In my B8, all service measures were documented both in the service booklet and with stickers inside the spare tire compartment.

That's surprising, I used to work as a service advisor at Audi until recently. We never received any stickers, and I sometimes forgot to make certain entries.
