Hi,
When replacing the pads on the FS III disc brake, the caliper is loosened and removed along with the pads. According to the manufacturer's instructions, that's the theory. However, if the pads are worn and have recessed into the disc, the pads need to be separated beforehand. How do you do it? I've managed to do it, but there's no good place to grip either a clamp or pliers. I couldn't push the piston back manually.

Herbert.

Hi Herbert,

Insert a sturdy screwdriver between the brake disc and the pad and pry them apart. This works perfectly. Besides, the pads are being replaced anyway, so it doesn't matter if some material breaks off.

Best regards, Rainer.

I don't follow the RLF (manufacturer's) instructions, but I use my common sense (when I have any). I insert a large screwdriver between the brake disc and the pad and push the piston and the pad back. Usually, I replace both the discs and the pads, so it's not a problem if there are imperfections in the friction material.

Hi Rainer,
Of course, that's also possible, as long as you don't want to work in a non-destructive way.
I will describe the actual error message once I have finished the second page, and hopefully that will be the end of it.
Good evening.
Herbert.
