Hello everyone!
Let me introduce myself and my 'problem child' once.
VW Passat Variant, year of manufacture: 2001, engine code: AVB, manual transmission.
I'm really at my wit's end and want to make one last attempt to address the problem.
My brother got the Passat 3 years ago, and everything was fine then. About half a year ago, it started to jerk when it got warm, specifically when you rev it past 2000 RPM in 3rd gear or higher. Now I've taken over the car because otherwise it's in good condition. Okay, here's the translation:
'I've already replaced the following parts: PD elements with refurbished ones, the PDE wiring harness, the AGR valve, the tandem pump, and all the vacuum lines. I've also replaced the vacuum regulator for the AGR and VTG, the mass airflow sensor, and the turbocharger.'
Recently, the thermostat also stopped working, which caused it to not get warm anymore, further exacerbating the shaking/vibration.
I have VCDS as diagnostic software and can log or read out anything you need, anytime.
It would be really great if you could help me, otherwise I'll have to sell it, and that would be a real loss after all the investment. Even though I probably should have started looking for a solution earlier, that was my mistake!
PS: One thing I'm not sure about is whether the synchronization angle is allowed to fluctuate when the engine is idling. Does it jump back and forth between exactly 0 and exactly 1.1? Does that have any meaning?
Best regards,
Patrick.

Hello,
Please observe the terms of use and set the scanner to automatic mode.
Where did you acquire the diagnostic system?
Best regards,
Kaum macht man es richtig, funktioniert es!

Hello again!
Sorry, I'm new here, and I'll complete the car scan tomorrow morning!
The system is from Ross Tech (18.STANDARD.VAG.USB Standard diagnostic tool for VAG vehicles) and was purchased from Amazon.
Best regards,
Patrick.

Thank you for purchasing the support ticket.
It's normal for the synchronization angle to fluctuate within certain limits, but it should NOT be between 0° and 1.1°!
That's clearly too much slack, and it suggests a loose timing belt. Make sure the timing belt tensioner is properly mounted, functioning correctly, and adjusted correctly. Also, check if the water pump bearing is in good condition.
It's best to loosen the timing belt and check if all the bearings involved in the belt's operation, including the idler pulleys, run smoothly and without play. Then, readjust the timing belt tensioner correctly. Be careful, a special wrench with two pins may be necessary to insert into the timing belt tensioner. Some tensioning devices also have an internal hexagonal socket for tensioning, which eliminates the need for a special key.
It has a small metal tab on the back, near the pulley, which hooks into a recess on the block. It is important that the rotating inner part is positioned above the gap in the sheet metal.
For the PD elements themselves (actuation), do not adjust or modify anything at this stage. Just check if everything is secure, not broken or loose.
A video of the engine running erratically can also be uploaded here. There are various causes and manifestations of the jolting, so it would be helpful to narrow it down further.
