Since it seems the fuel injection pump on my A4 is defective, can anyone tell me how to re-calibrate or "learn" the new pump?

Should I use VCDS to read any data from the old pump, which might be helpful for configuring the new pump?

If you don't have a login code for the WFS (Workshop Information System), you'll need to have your car towed to a VW/Audi dealership to have it programmed. Unfortunately, that's the only way.

Unless you're lucky and have one of the early B6 models, which still had IMMO II, in which case nothing needs to be programmed.
