My Passat Variant B6 is equipped with a multifunction steering wheel (see photo: Steering Wheel Passat B6 2009.jpeg), which probably uses the DDP protocol. To use the user profile dialog from the UHV-Premium, I need a steering wheel that uses the BAP protocol (see /viewtopic.php?t=30593).
A multi-function steering wheel from a Passat B7 with 12 buttons should be compatible with my Passat Variant B6. I hope that despite the two buttons on the back, it is still a 12-button steering wheel (I mean functionally, see photo: Steering Wheel Passat B7.jpg).
The connector for the steering wheel buttons on the steering wheel of the B7 is not compatible with the socket on the airbag module (see image: Steering Wheel Connector B7.jpg).
The connector for the steering wheel buttons has 5 pins, with 4 of them being used.
The locking mechanism on the connector of the airbag module can be reversibly removed (see photo: Connector on the airbag module.jpg). After that, there is one way to connect it, with the free poles mirrored opposite each other. Only 3 pins are connected.[/url]

Does the airbag module also need to be replaced, and will the connector on the steering column still fit after that?
Is it enough to simply rewire the cables of the steering wheel connector from the B7 model?
"Could anyone provide me with the pinouts for the steering wheel airbag module (Passat B6 2009) and the steering wheel of the Passat B7?"

Hi there,
With your approach, you won't get anywhere.
The multifunction steering wheel must be compatible with the corresponding control unit (ECU), as well as with the wiring harness and any other connected ECUs. It would be surprising if a partial system from a B6 model could be so easily swapped with a partial system from a B7 model.
This also applies to the airbag system. Modifications here are critical for safety and not permitted. The manufacturer will certainly not approve of such changes (not even for the use of the steering wheel).
Conclusion: Stay away!

Hello there,

Maybe someone can still help me after all.

My problem:
- I upgraded my standard radio to a premium radio (part number 5K0 035 730 E).
The refurbished Apple Watch was used, had a user profile set up, and worked perfectly with my iPhone 8 right out of the box. The only drawback was that the charging cradle didn't have any voltage.
- I received information from the seller that the charging socket could be properly coded within the vehicle's control unit (FSE). However, I was unable to achieve this, and ultimately, I reset the learning values in the FSE.
- Now I can't use the input for the user profile because the FSE (BAP protocol) doesn't understand my MFL (probably the DDP protocol).

My questions:
- Is it possible to achieve this through a new MFL (Main Feature List) and possibly a different system?
- or is it possible to encode the user profile after all?
