Hello.
I had a tow hitch retrofitted to my Audi Q5, which was manufactured in 2017.
Display error message: Trailer indicator lights (right and left) are constantly illuminated, even without a trailer attached.
Everything else works, including the trailer lights, ABS, and adaptive cruise control, etc.

Hi.

We're eating now, Grandma. Or: We are eating Grandma now.
What is the meaning of your sentence?
Is there an error message on the car's display indicating that something is not working correctly with the trailer's right and left turn signals?
Do the turn signals on the trailer light up continuously, or do the corresponding indicator lights for the trailer turn signals in the car's dashboard light up, or both?
Do the turn signals on the car function normally, and do the turn signals on any attached trailer function normally?
Have you re-coded anything in the instrument panel/cockpit (control unit address 17), and if so, what did you change?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello.
I already sent a complete description yesterday without using the automatic scan feature, and I thought it would be sufficient.
Everything is working perfectly; all the lights on the car are functioning, and all the lights on the trailer are working when a trailer is attached.
No other error messages and no errors in the error memory.
Even though no trailer is attached, the display always shows the trailer light indicators (right and left). Check.
I was wondering if I forgot to program something.
I didn't program anything in the control panel enclosure.
Is there a complete guide on what needs to be programmed after installing AutoHotkey?

That should be included with the description. Or, politely inquire with the manufacturer of the wiring harness.
Viele Grüße

Hello.
Unfortunately, I haven't received any information from the manufacturer, so I'm posting here in the forum.

Let's start with the basics:
What type of AHK (trailer hitch) do you have installed? Who manufactured the wiring harness? Are you sure you've wired everything correctly?
Viele Grüße
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
AHK and Esatz are products of Westfalia, and as mentioned above, the instructions are very sparse.
The wiring is correct, and everything is working as it should, but there's still an error message appearing in the FIS (Front Information System).
It's not the first AHK I've installed, and so far I haven't had any problems, except with this particular one.
Have a nice weekend.
Regards,
Sascha.

Hello,
I would carefully review the coding options available in the instrument cluster/dashboard (address 17) and the trailer control unit (address 69) using the L-code.
If the indicator lights for trailer turn signals are always illuminated on the instrument cluster, it can only be due to one of two reasons: either the instrument cluster is not receiving information from the trailer control unit about the status of the trailer turn signals, or it is receiving incorrect information.
Could you please share some screenshots of the trailer control unit's coding options?
How does the trailer control unit detect whether the trailer turn signals are working? Are these connected directly to the trailer control module, or is the signal taken from the rear turn signals, and does the trailer control module check if there is current flowing?
In the latter case, it might be incorrectly connected and not receiving the electrical current, which would explain the illuminated symbols on the dashboard.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello everyone,
Sorry for the delay, but I only got my hands on it again last night.
But the best part is, Westfalia got in touch, and you probably won't believe this...
They are having problems with the trailer control module; once it's coded, it breaks.
No joke!!
I'm getting a new one sent to me for free. (But I'm not allowed to modify the code.)
I'm working hard to solve the problem, but I can't find the error.
I hope this feedback can also help someone else.
Best regards,
Sascha.
