Hello friends,

I am looking for the unlock code for the customization options in an MK60E1 control unit, such as the one used in an Audi RS3 8P. I upgraded to ceramic brakes, and unfortunately, the brake disc wipers are now very noticeable. I would like to disable them (adaptation channel 55).

Perhaps someone can help me and send me a private message.

Best regards,

Hi,

Do you have a vehicle diagnostic scan?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello, and good day.

I cannot provide you with the login code.

However, I would like to give you the following piece of advice.

The ceramic brake system is slightly less powerful than the standard brake system when it is cold. To take advantage of the benefits of ceramic brakes, they need to reach a certain temperature.

Disabling the "brake disc wiping" feature essentially means sacrificing the full braking performance – at least for the first few meters. The purpose of the wiping function is primarily to remove the water film. It should be barely noticeable.

If you notice it very clearly, or if it feels disturbing, the problem is likely located in the brake calipers or the brake block.

What modifications have you made to the vehicle?

Only replaced with different pads and rotors?

Org. Audi or ATE, etc.?

Of course, new parts were installed. Can we rule out a broken window?

Are counterweights installed?

(In some current vehicles, it can also be subtly noticeable and is considered state-of-the-art. - again, there is no customer-facing solution here.)

Best regards,

Michael.

Hello Michael,

"The usefulness of this feature is definitely debatable, but I don't want to argue about it or start a discussion about it. My problem is that the ceramic braking system installed wasn't a standard option, so the associated components aren't compatible with the programming for the brake disc drying function. I will carefully monitor the braking performance in the rain and then decide whether to leave it deactivated or reactivate it." However, I need the login code to make the change.

Hello,

I and others have thought about everything again.
I don't personally have the login code, but I could request it.

The problem is that you can then adjust all sorts of things, and I'm also concerned about the lack of proper wiping, especially regarding adhesion and the risk of accidents.

What if you're involved in an accident, and then someone says, "If he hadn't tampered with the brake settings, the accident wouldn't have happened."

That gives me a stomachache, so I won't do it.

Do your pads fit the rotors? Does the manufacturer recommend this pairing?
If the friction material is too hard for the brake disc, it can quickly lead to a grooved disc, especially if you're unlucky.

PS: I once installed the ATE Ceramic brake pads with the aim of reducing brake dust. Did not prove successful.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.

Best regards, Rainer.

I installed the original complete ceramic brake system from the subsequent 8v model.

Since I will only be driving this vehicle and I will pay close attention to its behavior in the rain, I personally don't see any problem. Especially since I would also be liable in the event of an accident... I would appreciate it if you could send me the code, preferably via private message.

Best regards,

Hi,
The problem is that this braking system is not standard equipment for the vehicle and is therefore not approved. You would need to have the system, including the control unit (STG), inspected and approved. And the STG modification is likely only available from the vehicle manufacturer.
A VW workshop probably won't even adjust the wiper function without an entry in the system.
