Trailer Hitch Coding Audi A8 - Data Bus Issue

I have installed a Westfalia tow hitch and vehicle-specific wiring harness on my Audi A8 4H2. Unfortunately, the fuse block No. 5 described in the wiring harness instructions, which is supposed to be located at the rear, is not present. Therefore, I made the connection to the first fuse block as required and obtained the remaining voltages from blocks 4 and 6. According to the instructions, I connected the bus line to the tow hitch control unit. The control unit is also recognized correctly, and I was able to adjust (almost) all of the tow hitch codings, except for:

1) I can still correctly set the coding for the Gateway_19 (diagnostic interface) on trailers with part number 69.

"I am unable to set the EZE_09 electronic central electrical control unit coding because the provided access authorization code, 31347, is not working. Westfalia claims this code comes from Audi, and Audi says it comes from Westfalia. The code also does not work on an A4 (supplied by Jäger), for which it should be valid."

How do I obtain the necessary authorization to install a trailer hitch that is compatible with vehicles under 10 years old, specifically for connection and networking purposes?

"Now, in addition to that, the bus no longer recognizes my entire optical data bus at the rear; I had to remove all the connectors and relays from the back in order to properly install the additional cables. However, the Westfalia "illiteracy" documentary isn't very good, so I hope I haven't made any mistakes."

What could cause a complete interruption of the entire optical data bus? Unfortunately, I can't identify which cable is connected to which control unit, or whether this could be a consequence of the incorrect coding mentioned above. Neither the MMI nor various other components are working (see scan). The optical data bus shouldn't fail due to the additional connectors, unless I accidentally loosened a cable for the optical coupling of the data bus? It must be located in the rear, and that was the only thing that was open.

To code the AHK on the A8, the correct CODE should be 20113} for control unit 09.

Please check if your installation instructions are for the MLB platform. There are several things to consider regarding coding, especially with vehicles that have features like camera systems and adaptive cruise control.

The optical data bus is quite easily damaged; even a small bend in the fiber optic cables can cause it to stop working properly.
Check the plug where it was connected to see if the cable is bent or damaged.

The diagnostic interface has a fault in the optical data transmission. I had to really struggle to get the fuse holders out from the back and rewire them.

If it's the blind plug to the right of the fuses – that's where I had the trailer hitch control unit plugged in, but it didn't have a glass connector.

In your error scan, the radio is not accessible. Your sound system has an error on the MOST bus.

If the error didn't exist before, it is definitely related to your work.

If I'm interpreting your photo correctly, the central control unit for the comfort system is located above the fuses. Behind that is the radio! Since you mentioned having "tinkered around" with it quite a bit, I would look for the problem there. The MOST bus connection is also located near the radio.

A slight bend in the fiber optic cable is enough to cause it to malfunction, even if a red light is still visible at the end of the cable. Using a test plug, you can disconnect the device from the bus and check whether the radio itself is faulty or if the problem lies with the cabling.

What limitations or errors are currently present in the vehicle?

Can you please clear all the errors again and then display a scan with the current errors?

Hello Michael, the scan you requested is currently showing no errors after I cleared all previous faults and reprogrammed all the AHK components. If the radio is located behind the fuse box (the Bose unit is on the left side and also connected via fiber optic cable to the MOST system), I can try disconnecting it again and re-checking. I haven't actually disconnected the radio yet, as it's located behind the fuse box. The radio shows "OK" in the ring break diagnosis.

"However, the diagnostic interface is electrically okay but shows visual errors. The entire sound system is completely faulty. Everything related to the MMI (Multi Media Interface) is not working – from the camera to the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), radio, media functions, navigation, and even the rear climate control/sensors, because the sound system itself is neither electrically nor visually accessible."

Oh crap... it was so easy...
The top fuse on pack 6, which is brown and rated at 30A, was blown. Unfortunately, reality didn't match the instructions, but I noticed this by comparing it to pictures I took beforehand.
That was the fuse for the radio/sound system receiver. Without it, neither the MMI (Multi Media Interface) nor the camera, ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), etc., would work.
At least, after that, the radio and navigation system immediately started working again.
However, I'm still encountering an error, and I can't activate any settings or the pre-heating function in the MMI (Multi Media Interface).

I've re-checked the list of installed components, turned off the car, and let it sit for an hour. Afterward, all the errors were gone, and I was able to clear the remaining warning message, which hasn't reappeared since. Thank you for your help!
