Good evening, everyone.

I drive an Octavia with a 1.9 TDI engine, 77 kW (BLS).
The vehicle has approximately 240,000 kilometers on the odometer and has not been modified.

Using VCDS, I've now determined that the oil consumption is 63g. The maximum value is 60g. Since this is a calculated value, I would like to ask for your help in assessing how urgently action needs to be taken.

I don't have any problems with the vehicle itself - and if I hadn't clicked through to that value in the software, this post wouldn't exist icon_smile.gif.

Unsuccessful regenerations are at 0.

In the post /viewtopic.php?t=24222 (DPF differential pressure normal values), I found some initial information. However, I am unsure how to perform the measurement.

Quote:
Full-throttle data from 1500-4000 rpm from measurement blocks 11, 67, and 68 (or corresponding extended measurements) as raw CSV data

Entschuldigt die eventuell blöde Frage, aber wie ist "Vollgas" zu verstehen? Which aisle?

At idle (800 RPM) with the engine at 90°C, I observed a difference of 2.55.
At 1500 RPM (3rd gear), it's approximately 5.1.

Since I forgot to record the ambient pressure and temperature, I will have to repeat the entire process tomorrow.

Thank you in advance and best regards.

If it were my car, I would just keep driving.
Occasionally, log the differential pressure and pay attention to the mileage of the last regeneration.
If it regenerates too frequently, also check the oil level.

Hi,
Full throttle should be used under load, not when idling, as you want to achieve maximum airflow and exhaust gas flow.

Otherwise: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=10163

Good evening, everyone.

First, thank you for your responses.

Today, I was outside again and recorded the values once more.

Hopefully, I haven't made any mistakes, and the data will be helpful for interpretation.

You will find a Screenshot and the raw data as a CSV file in the attachment.

Thank you in advance for your time.
Peter.

Hello, the question is, since you've already driven 240,000 km in your beloved car, wouldn't it be a good idea to simply get a new one? You can get them for around €400 for the BLS engine. Of course, installing it yourself would be the cheapest option.

Otherwise, as mentioned before, you constantly have to pay attention to the values, and if the engine can no longer perform the regeneration process, it can happen quickly, and the vehicle will be out of service for a while.

Best regards,
Dago

Hey, I think that covers everything.

Keep an eye on the regeneration intervals and the differential pressure; it might still last for tens of thousands of kilometers. If it's nearing the limit, consider what the vehicle is worth to you. You might also be able to schedule the cleaning in advance, especially if you don't want to do it in an unheated garage during the winter or if you happen to have too much time. It's always better to plan proactively than to have to react later.

I would always clean the existing filter myself (or have it cleaned) and reinstall it. This is certainly better than installing a cheap new part, which could potentially cause you new problems.

Hello everyone,

I will proceed as you recommended. I will continue driving and observe. If there are any problems, I will remove and clean the DPF myself.

Best regards,
Peter.
