Hi,
I am Tobias and I'm new to this forum.
I own a Citroen Berlingo XTR 1.6 HDI, manufactured in 12/2009, with 190,000 km on the odometer.
In the past year, I have performed the following work on the vehicle:
- Particulate filter (cleaned at Barten GmbH)
- Air mass meter
- Light bulbs
- AGR Valve (I have removed, disassembled, and thoroughly cleaned)
- Diesel filter replaced 2,000km ago (due to the following problem)
Now I have a problem that I can't really pinpoint, and that's why I'm turning to this forum.
Occasionally, the car goes into emergency mode and then no longer responds to the accelerator. Error message: "Exhaust system malfunction"
If you are standing, you can restart the car and it will also start running again.
This behavior occurs inconsistently and at different load points.
Error message in the control unit: P0093 Large fuel leak and P0087 low rail pressure (Read out with Icarsoft V2.0 FR).
Currently, I suspect the fuel regulator valve. However, I would like to approach troubleshooting in a systematic way.
Does anyone here recognize this error and can suggest a sensible approach to pinpoint the cause?
Best regards
Tobias

Hello Tobias,
The error codes indicate:
P0087 Fuel High-Pressure Control: The measured system pressure is too low relative to the target value.
Suspect Areas
Engine Control Unit (Software not updated)
Incorrect fuel or contaminated fuel (gasoline, deposits, etc.)
Problem with low- or high-pressure fuel system (hose, tank, diesel filter, etc.)
Fuel Injectors
Motor Control Unit
Wiring Harness
Plug
High-Pressure Fuel Pump (Insufficient Pressure)
Fuel Pressure Regulator (Insufficient Pressure)
Fuel Pressure Sensor
P0093 Fuel High-Pressure Control: The fuel flow control valve is not opening fully to the specified value.
Suspect Areas Engine Control Unit (Software not updated)
Incorrect fuel or contaminated fuel (gasoline, deposits, etc.)
Problem with low- or high-pressure fuel system (hose, tank, diesel filter, etc.)
Fuel Injectors
Motor Control Unit
Wiring Harness
Fuel Pressure Sensor
So, check the parameters with the tester - compare actual values with target values.
Best regards

Hi Michael,
Thank you for the quick response.
Then I already have several points to work on.
If the software is not up-to-date, problems can suddenly arise.
Then there must already be errors from the beginning, or?
Best regards
