Hello!

'I'm not sure if anyone can help me: Last week, I installed xenon headlights (genuine Hella, brand new) in my VW Passat 3BG, manufactured in 08/2001 (TDI 96kW, AVF). To do this, I also installed the SWRA (Steering Wheel Remote Control) and the LWR (Low Beam Range) control unit 4Z7 907 357 with axle sensors, etc. I have two of the LWR control units, one with the coding 00001 and the other with 00008 (soft-coding). A friend of mine has VAG-Com 311.2 as a full version (I only have 409.0 as shareware). When we accessed address 55 (Xenon Range) and function 04 (Basic Settings), and selected group 001 to move the xenons to the basic position, we received the error message 'Error: Group 001 not available.' However, in function 08 (Measurement Blocks), everything is displayed in both group 001 and group 002 (001-1 = 12.53 V, 001-2 = 1, 001-3 = 0.00 km/h, 001-4 = 0.00, 002-1 = 2.79 V, 002-2 = 0.47 V, 002-3 = 0.00, 002-4 = 0.03 s). The only error code in the error memory is 'Headlights not adjusted,' nothing else.'
'After that, I drove to the VW workshop. However, when they tried to access the basic settings with their portable blue device, the message 'Function not available at this time' or something similar appeared. Could it be related to the control units? Do they need to be coded or re-coded somehow? Under the 'Recode' function, 'soft coding' and channels 01 to 07 can be coded. Does anyone here know what error might be causing this?'

'Thank you very much!!!'

Helmets.

Hello!

Okay, I've found the first error: I noticed that the displayed voltage of the rear axle sensor was 'only' 0.47V, while the front sensor was 2.79V. Furthermore, when the vehicle load changed, only the voltage value of the front sensor changed. The rear sensor remained constant at 0.47V. My initial thought was that the rear axle sensor was defective. However, when I disconnected the tie rod from the rear sensor and turned the sensor, the displayed voltage suddenly changed. So, I rotated the sensor's shaft by 180 degrees and then reattached the tie rod in the new position. And sure enough: suddenly, I was able to bring the xenon headlights into the basic setting. This indicates that the voltage value required for the basic setting was outside the specified range. The automatic leveling control unit probably 'thought' that the rear left wheel was 'in the air' due to the low voltage. And since the adjustment is supposed to be made on a level surface, the control unit simply refused access to the basic setting. I can only say, 'clever little thing'...Nun habe ich jedoch noch ein 2. Problem:
I tapped the speed signal for the LWR (low beam headlight range control) from the blue-white cable in the radio compartment (where the radio volume increases with speed). However, when I'm driving, for example, 40 km/h, the LWR shows a value of 7.2 km/h in function 08 (measurement blocks) in group 002. Normally, the V-signal should be taken from the 'rear left speed sensor' in the dashboard wiring harness. This should be a white-black cable. The LWR control unit also has a cable of this color. But I thought a V-signal was a V-signal... Are there different types?

Best regards,

Helmets.
